Location Centrally located on a quiet street in Ipanema - a short walk to restaurants, shops, beaches and metro stops. Rooms The three-level bunk beds were kind of crazy but also pretty fun. The bottom bunks were very low to the ground. Would recommend 2nd or 3rd levels. Making your bed on the top bunk was a bit of a... More

rooms were always clean, security lockers are available. Breakfast is delicious. There is a good atmosphere for young people to meet, since they sell drinks at the reception and have some space for poeple to get to know each other. The swimming pool is also a very good advantage. Location is perfect, next to plenty of restaurants, bars, and 2... More

This is the perfect place if you are traveling alone and want to meet lots of likeminded people. Ipanema beach house had a great young vibe about it and people would always get together at night for a beer and to exchange a couple of travel stories. The rooms felt a bit old and probably need a retouch ( no... More

The setting is great, nice outdoor areas. The service not so much! we were awakened in the middle of the night, because this guy was upset for some reason. They turned on the light and were talking in Portuguese for 10 minutes, walking in and out of the room. Not really what you want at 2 am when you have... More

We stayed here for five nights and each and every one of the staff members seems completely indifferent to any questions or requests one might have. A very teenagery attitude of "you are bothering me with your question". Childish staff, spent much of my time waiting for the recepionist(s) to finish their conversations with others/texts/games on the computer before getting... More

Hostel is very decent, staff all very friendly and helpful, luggage room available to keep your stuff in before/after check out. Dorms are what you'd expect, 3 tier bunk beds make climbing up to your bed without waking everyone up a bit of a challenge, and a number of the locks on the lockers were broken while I was there,... Location is excellent. Julia at reception is lovely. Breakfast is good. That's about it unfortunately. Bathrooms are disgraceful. Any time I went in to the (disgusting) upstairs bathroom the floor was wet and the bin was overflowing with toilet paper. What do they expect having one bathroom upstairs between 30 odd people? I know there's other bathrooms at the back... More

I really liked the vibe at this hostel, the staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was pretty good. The only thing I didnt like was the room. We booked one of the private 'suites' which I thought was really pricey for a hostel - it was more than we had paid for a modern serviced... More

Good points: - location, friendly staff, breakfast, excellent local tour guide (Orlando) Bad points : - hostel organised a taxi to collect us from the airport which never showed, contacted reception on 3 occasions and were advised to continue to wait a further 10 minutes. After 2 hours we got our own taxi. The hostel receptionist was dismissive and said... More
