I loved staying at Mama Ruisa. Loved the whimsical and eclectic interiors. Loved the variety of views from vistas of cable cars on Sugarloaf to gazing at a wall sprouting orchids while floating in the pool. I loved the tropical breezes sifting through the house creating a languid satisfaction in whatever the weather was bringing. I was most grateful to... More

The grounds were beautiful. The staff was friendly. This boutique hotel is centrally located, near (driving) to the convention center, copacobana and walking distance to shops/restaurants and historic sites. My room had a beautiful view of sugarloaf mountain.

This hotel is magical and was by far the best hotel experience I have ever had. The guest house is over 100 years old and has been lovingly and respectfully styled and restored by Jean Michel to showcase it's uniqueness and beauty. Much like the hotel, the neighborhood of Santa Theresa is colorful and vibrant with real character. The service... More

Breakfast is lovely Swimming pool is beautiful Lydia on reception gave us great recommendations and booked tables for us The not-so-good: Our junior suite felt a... More

I lovely guest house tucked away in Santa Teresa but very close to the bars and restaurants. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated and breakfast on the balcony is a real treat. A great place to relax.

There are so many things to love about this hotel. Here are some of them: It's in the fantastic area of Santa Teresa. It's a beautiful colonial house. There is crazy art and artefacts which make it so interesting and bohemian. The rooms are large and lovely and quirky and full of character. We had our own terrace that led... More

My friend and I had three wonderful nights at Mama Ruisa. it was only supposed to be two, but we splurged and stayed an extra night because it was such a warm, welcoming, stylish place in the center of charming Santa Teresa. Flavia and Thomas in particular were incredibly helpful, saw to our every need like making restaurant reservations and... More

We stayed at Mama Ruisa as part of our honeymoon and had the most amazing and wonderful time. The house is simply beautiful, with fantastic pieces of art throughout which make you feel as if you are in a private gallery. Our room was spacious and had a very colonial feel to it. The best part was the beautiful terrace... More

My husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon in Rio. Unfortunately, our flights back to Rio were cancelled and we weren't able to stay the night, but the gracious owner let us make his beautiful B&B our home for the day, when we finally arrived in Rio. We reserved one of the junior suites, which has gorgeous views of... More

Wonderful experience in a beautiful and classic house of Rio de Janeiro. The taste perfectly matches the romantic atmosphere of the city. The house is conveniently located close to the domestic airport of Santos Dumont as well as the places of interest of Rio. A warm thank to the team for the excellent service.
