We just stayed one night and wished to have stayed longer! The room: We stayed in the suite facing the pool and with a view on the bay/city on the advice of the owner. The room was very spacious and pleasant with a private balcony where we had our breakfast served. The bathroom had amenities from the local cosmetics brand... More

This boutique hotel is located in historic Santa Teresa. We stayed in the spacious Josephine Baker Suite which contains memorabilia from her life. There are stunning views from the suite. Breakfasts are sumptuous and we enjoyed ours on the veranda. The staff are friendly and very efficient. The sitting room is very chic in terms of furniture and artwork. The... More

This house is situated in Santa Teresa which has several nice restaurants and art shops. The place itself is beautiful, the rooms large and breakfast was served out on the veranda. The breakfast was gorgeous! The B&B is situated on the corner of a hill (unsurprisingly) and has a cobbled road outside it and though a minor one, it can... More

We spent 4 weeks in South America and this was the last stop before flying home. We loved this hotel and was definitely one of our favourites of the whole trip. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful. The room was spacious with very nice decor. The view down over Rio was lovely. Breakfast is served near the... More

We have recently returned from our family holiday in Brazil. We started our travels in Rio at the delightful, charming beautifully located mama Russa. We were looked after by all of the charming staff, who advised recommended and booked restaurants etc. The whole of our family inc 3 adult children loved being in Santa Teresa and mama Russa. The most... More

This is a beautiful Guest House in Santa Teresa with its local bars and restaurants. We arrived at night and woke to a gorgeous sunrise and views of sugar loaf mountain from the terrace. The room was large, clean, well maintained, and comfortably cool, although the air conditioning produces a lot of water which is collected outside. Breakfast was superb... More

Mama Ruisa is a charming boutique hotel set in Santa Teresa. Suites are spacious and clean. Breakfast is delicious, served on the porch from where you can enjoy a splendid view of the city. The staff are very helpful and kind. The pool area is quite pleasant. We stayed for 2 nights only, but could have easily spent all week!

This is a beautiful colonial house high up in the winding streets of Santa Teresa, with beautifully decorated rooms and gorgeous flowers and trees around the pool. The staff were all charming and friendly. Fantastic breakfast, served either on our own private balcony or in the shady pool terrace. Only disadvantage of the location was that you need to use... We stayed at Jean Michel's amazing place for the Holidays this year...without knowing anything about it...what a great surprise! The Staff is like Family; the view is amazing; the neighborhood is perfect; the rooms range from comfy to Lux ( we came and went over a 2 week period and had several rooms). It is private and quiet yet not... More
