This hostel was such a breath of fresh air. everyone was friendly and so helpful. hostel was clean with everything you could need on your travels. cheap and cheerful. thoroughly enjoyed my trip to rio, with mellow yellow playing a big part in my enjoyment. more

This place is fantasitic. Considering it's size, the staff really go out of their way to make everything about your stay great. They organise tours with the Favella Funk and Boat party definitely being highlights. stayed here when backpacking. such a difference from the norm in south america... really knowledgable and friendly staff. lots of trips/info. very social place to stay. we has an absolute ball staying here pre carnival. great social areas. dorms can be a bit noisy. good kitchens. would recommend. more

Are hostels not supposed to be for travellers on a budget? That is what I don't understand about Mellow Yellow.Their room rates are ridiculous for what it is and the tours are massively overpriced.
