The hotel is 5 blocks from Copacabana, 10 mins walk to metro or taxi stand, and close to the Main Street with shops, restaurants, etc. it's also very quiet around the hotel so is good for getting away from the hustle when you are tired. It's basically an old apartment block converted into a hotel. Charming is perhaps too generous... More

It has an excellent location in a very calm and peaceful neighborhood, in a walking distance from Copacabana beach and the metro/underground station. Shops and street markets also very close. The staff is really friendly and the reception desk/ hotel lobby is interesting. The rooms/beds are comfortable. Cons: too expensive for what you get and the breakfast is not really... More

Stayed here during the World Cup, so I do understand they wouldn't normally charge USD300 per room. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't pay more than USD 30 a night for a place like this. The good: reasonably convenient (15 min walk to subway, 20 min walk to Copacabana), friendly, English-speaking staff. The bad: neighborhood isn't great at night--not much lighting... More

This hotel was an excellent find during the World Cup. Prices were reasonable, breakfast was excellent and the staff at the front desk were extremely helpful when booking tours or taxis. The subway station is a five minute walk away which made getting downtown easy. The beach was a ten-fifteen minute walk. Rooms were furnished simply and you call for... More

I always travel on a budget and I was looking for a reasonable priced Hotel with good perks like Breakfast! and coffee of course. :) This was a great place to stay! safe area and close to Metro & Bus, and walking distance to Copacabana. All buses to the main attractions such as Christ the Redeemer & Sugar Loaf are... More

The hotel is on good locatian, prety close to everything, including to beach of Copacabana. The breakfast is realy nice, very "Brazilian Style". Big rooms, clean, little bit apear with the colonial style. Have option for excucrtions, but because of the location of the hotel, not all the time the bus will success to collect you, however, with all this,... More

Sonetimes I think Tripadvisor's reviewers can be a bit harsh. This hotel is exactly what I was after - cheap & cheerful, no pretentions, good location. Breakfast was a bit underwhelming, but who cares, I'm going out to eat anywhere. Keeping my bicycle in my room was no problem. I'm going to stay another night. I paid R$200/night for a... More

we stayed at hotel santa clara and would defenitively recommend as an option in rio. the staff always welcomed us with a smile when we returned to the hotel. they helped with taxi and touristic advise. be careful though their favourite taxi driver tends to make on or two loops to much to make a bit more money! the rooms... I think it all has been said before! So in short: in other cities you would got more for this money. But in Rio (or for that matter in my hometown Amsterdam) not. In Rio this is excellent value for your money, good location, quiet neighbourhood, close to Ipanema, the metro and so forth, a cupboard that you can lock.... More
