Although the rooms felt like I should have been in a bordhelo, the location in Gloria was great. An easy walk to Centro and Flame go Beach-close to all transport forms. Should have ditched Copacabana earlier and stayed another night here

The stay at Magic Palace in Gloria was terrific. Wonderful breakfast buffet and close proximity to the metro and buses to the locations of importance - Corcovado, Sugar Loaf Mountain and the beaches. Great exchange place (safe and a great rate) for dollars at the Galleria in Largo de Machado area. Very safe in Gloria at night.

Great location if you like the Bohemian part of Rio. Unfortunately the sheets slip around on the plastic mattress; the room was a good size with fridge and TV. Shower had mould in the tiles which was not acceptable. Staff friendly and spoke some English.

The hotel is situated really well, basically only a multilane road between it and Flamengo beach.
