I stayed in this hotel on a business trip from 8th - 13th September 2014. I cannot believe that the reviews on here are so good, because I am still in shock from my stay. I had a tired room with one large bed, the room had one window that faced an internal shaft, so there was no light at... More

We stayed for 3 nights in early September and very happy with the choice. Our room (1208) was perfectly situated with a view directly to the Christ Statue and we could also see streets down below. It is very well located to Copacabana and during walks around I saw many hotels a lot further back from the beach than Mar... More

This hotel was just OK - nothing more. We were in Rio for 12 nights towards the end of the carnival and couldn't get all nights together on the beach road, so had to take this hotel one block back, and paid through the nose for it due to the dates (which we couldn't change as we were sailing back... Lovely spot. 1 minute walk to the beach, very helpful staff. Great breakfast, nice spacious rooms. Stayed with family, everyone very pleased. Lots of buses, trains, taxis on the doorstep so easy access to other areas.

We stayed here during Reveillon 2014 because it was the most economical and probably the best choice due to location. This hotel is only a 5 minute walk from Copacabana Beach and steps away from a strip of restaurants. The hotel itself is very average from what I could tell of surrounding lodging facilities. Staff at the front desk is... More

Not much to complain about. There is a nice view from the top of the hotel. Good wifi, very accessible and about 1 block from the beach. If you cannot find a place directly on the beach, this is the next best thing.

The staff at Mar Palace are all commendable. They were friendly and able to accommodate all our needs, and even got us two great seats to a Confederation cup game (Spain vs. Tahiti) last minute. The breakfast buffet is always something we looked forward to every morning, and at night if you're hungry, order in some Portugese pizza. Reserve your... More

I stayed in the Mar Palace in March/April for several days. The hotel was chosen predominantly for it's location a stone's throw from the beach. The room was spacious and relatively clean, with a large bathroom with walk in shower. The lift is incredibly slow and I often ended up giving up and walking down the stairs. The breakfast is... The whole hotel price structure scenario in Rio is artificially high, consequently finding a good location is not hard, if you are prepared to pay. The Mar Palace as others have described, is in a very good location and it offers everything from beach, transport, restaurants, shops and bars. The rooms were clean and quite spacious. The bathroom was large... More

Convenient location, 2 blocks from Copacabana, on a busy street with many shops, stores, restaurants. The room was big, clean and reasonably quiet. The breakfast was good. On the negative side: the hotel immediately faces a park, with homeless people sleeping in and around it. The staff was terrible at the front desk, especially the afternoon men. None seemed too happy... More
