My friend and I stayed at O Veleiro for a week in October, having spent three weeks traveling elsewhere in Brazil. We couldn't have asked for a better end to our trip. Rob and Richard are the perfect hosts and couldn't have been more helpful, giving us loads of advice about what to see and how to make the most... More

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights. Probably like most first time visitors to Rio we initially had some reservations about staying anywhere other than a 'safe' beachfront hotel. Without a doubt we made the right choice. Apart from the most expensive hotels, those that are near the beaches look bland, functional and jaded. In contrast this is a... More

We really liked it here. The room was nice and clean and met our needs which was to sleep two adults and two children. There is a small pool which the children enjoyed as we had just had a four hour drive back from Paraty. They also liked the tortoise that lives in the garden and the marmosets that live in... More

The place is nice and clean, set in a rich tropical garden. Patricia, the lady who looks after the house and prepares nice breakfasts, is kind and pleasant. Nevertheless I don't know if I would suggest this location because is set in a residential neighborhood rather remote from touristic places. The closest metro is about 20 minutes walk away and... We spent a really good time in this nice place. Rob (who was guide before) explained us very well the better ways to go to see beautiful places and took time to give us really good advices. The breakfast was very good (one morning Patricia made us a hot toast with ham, tomato and cheese. It was simple but so... More

Firstly this b&b is fine, nothing wrong with it at all. The people were really nice. For me,though, I wouldn't suggest this area if you want to stay in Rio. Nothing wrong with it but it's simply not the best area. Stay at one of the beaches where you can swim (you cannot at Botafoga ), where it is closer... More

O Veleiro was our home for about 10 days in June 2014. It was clean and comfortable but most of all it was a very secured place. My daughter and I enjoyed our stay there tremendously. The owners and staff members were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about Rio Janeiro. They were always around to answer our questions. They also... More

I stayed in O Veleiro last year by myself. The location is safe and quiet. You will like it if you do not mind walking/hiking a little bit. It is a cool place. You get the chance to see the real Brazilian homes on the way to the main street. I was a little nervous when I walked in the... More

Rob, Richard, Patricia and Wendell, Oh how we enjoyed our stay with you. My mom and I felt so at home in this lovely Botafogo house which is both comfortable and secure. If you want value for your money, this is the place for you. We would long to wake up and see what breakfast feast was set before us.... More
