We weren't staying there, but had a tour that was supposed to pick us up there. When the tour company didn't show, the front desk staff bent over backwards to help us track them down. I can't say how much I appreciate the calls they made on our behalf since we don't speak Portuguese. We would have been lost without... More

This hotel is not good. Yes the rooms are clean but old and tiny. Staff not that pleasant. Guys on the door were far more polite than the women behind the counter. They should swap. Left the hotel and went to the Park Everest around the corner. Far more polite and far nicer hotel.

Pros: location, clean rooms, great breakfast, nice facility. Cons: little English, unofficial taxi scam. After checking out they called a taxi to take us to the airport. But it wasn't an official taxi, someone's friend, that got lost to the airport and charged double the fare of an official taxi. We arrived to SDU airport very late; Missed our flight.... More

The Vermont is not a luxury hotel in any sense, but it is a real find. The staff are charming and helpful, the rooms are impeccably clean, and it could not be better located--a block from the beach in Ipanema. Really good value for money. If I return to Rio, and I hope I will, I'll definitely be back.

The place is good located and the neighborhood is quite safe. The installations are enough because we were not expecting to spend a lot of time in the hotel, just to sleep. The breakfast was really good tough the juices were awful (strange because they had a lot of fruits). The room was Ok even when the air conditioner was... More

This place is all about location, its not on the beach (hence not as expensive) but you can walk twoish blocks to the beach and that makes it all worth it. Rooms are kinda small but beds are fine. Rooms are clean and staff was very helpful, called me a taxi at midnight (long story) and then when I came... More

Hotel Vermont doesn't wow you when you arrive and walk up to your room. The decor is old fashioned (some might say out of date) and the colors are wacky. But after you settle in you realize that attention has been paid to the little things. 1-Internet works well 2-The A/C is dependable 3-Breakfast is great - love the ample... More

I booked this hotel via the internet and purchased two superior rooms with a king size beds for two couples. The price was reasonable and the location was very good. I read the reviews and understood it was an older Hotel but for the price it seemed fair. Upon arrival the check-in went smooth until we were shown to our... More

I first came here during student exchange days in 1992 and Hotel Vermont is still my favorite value for location in Rio. Smack in the center of Ipanema (though not on the beach), what the hotel lacks in charm it makes up for in location and value - though well worth searching the web for best price. As taxis and... We stayed here and the Best Western Ipanema. Really, why pay more to stay elsewhere. Excellent location. Great transport links for local bus and metro only two blocks. Two blocks to the beach and the main avenue for buses. Hotel staff spoke excellent English and very informative. They also offer a money exchange service which is very useful if you... More
