Stayed here for 5 nights in Nov 2008 (R$80 official taxi from the airport), had mixed feelings at first about the location, but soon settled into a routine of catching the bus to the Metro and all the major sights, especially downtown to Centro. Rooms are clean, but bare. Shower was very powerful and good towels provided too, with basic... more

This hotel is in an excellent location in a classical Rio de Janeiro neighborhood, a couple of blocks from the beach. The front door is well monitored and has small touches like a driveway and awning that provide added convenience for arrivals and departures. The bellhops were willing to go out in the rain and flag taxis at the corner... more

I was on Hotel Vermont in january 08, the location is so good, near from the beach, in the centre of Ipanema and all kind of shops. But the employees were very unpolite. They don´t help you, they always try to sell you their own excursion and if you don´t sell them, they don´t offer information to you. Besides that,... more

Through the recommendation of our local guide, we stayed for six nights at the Vermont Hotel starting in the beginning of October 2007. His reasoning was that since Rio is an expensive city, why not spend our money on other things as sleeping will only be just for a few hours, and that we would be spending most of our... more

I spent my vacations in Rio in August. It was my third time at the city, second at Hotel Vermont. I stayed there two years ago, because it was good value and had a fantastic location. Although my stay was pleasant enought, I have to agree with other reviewers the it was a bit shabby and old. This year, being... more

The Hotel Vermont looks OK from the outside and we took a chance on it especially because it was rated well in 1 guidebook and we wanted to be in Ipanema. It was a bit on the expensive side compared to other hotels in Rio but seemed to be reasonable for Ipanema. But...once you get to your room, it's neither... more

Okay, first let me preface the situation. My partner and I booked 5 nights at this hotel for New Year’s celebration from Dec 28, 2006 through Jan 2, 2007. In Rio, you can’t book less than 4 nights at any hotel around New Year’s and the prices are exorbitant. So we decided to stay in a “budget” hotel which is... more

We stayed here in Nov 06 for a couple of nights and found the hotel to be value for money. It is a 7 min walk to Ipanema beach and is located on the main shopping st. Our room faced other apartments and when the ACs were on it did become a bit noisey but to be honest that didn't... more

I1 form the notheast of Brazil and dicide to go to Rio with my girlfriend. I'm used in beeing in very simple places, but this one i didn't like at all. The bad thinga was: The view from my window was a wall just 2 meters distance; the airconditioning (the worse part) was visible full of some stuff, as it... more

There is one reason to stay at the Vermont: it is located in the heart of Ipanema, safe and close to the beach. There are more reasons NOT to stay there, however. Rio may be a city that never sleeps but if you book a hotel it can be presumed that you would like to use the bed. The Vermont... more
