Got back today from Paysandu Hotel and had a great time! Several close restaurants, free breakfast includes rolls, fruits, juices, coffee, sliced meat and cheese. Ridiculously nice staff, they have a big guy at the door and they always have someone working that speaks English. The area is safe and close to every thing. You will not regret a trip... More

This is a very old hotel and the conditions are not really good. Room is very small, old and very noisy. AC is really noisy. The bed was awful and it generate noise. Staff was really good and helpful. Breakfast is ok. When compare to other places, this hotel is really expensive for what it offered but Rio is an... More

I stayed at the Paysandu for one night in a professional trip. The only thing I really liked was the art déco sign with the hotel name outside. The building is old, my room had a very small window, the walls are dirty, although the rather ordinary bedsheets and towels were clean. There were tiny ants walking in the sink... More

The location's good, the breakfast was good, and my overrall impression of the place was... OK. What is a shame, really, is that this place could be much better than it really is. The staff does no more than what's extremely necessary, and there is this atmosphere of prostration all over the place. The staff is just... dismayed. The hotel... More

We stayed at this hotel for Carnival 2013 because we wanted somewhere cheap, in a good location, with breakfast and thought we’d be in / out + drunk so the condition wouldn’t matter. However even with this being the case, the condition of the hotel was even further below our already low expectations, this was disappointing and we were glad... More

We stayed at the Paysandu before a cruise and selected it for location, price, and because the T.A. reviews were OK. It was what we expected: an older hotel that largely caters to middle-class Latin Americans. The staff were nice and helpful but I endorse other comments about Internet service and the charge for it. The buffet breakfast has variety... More

Really well located close to Flamengo Beach. Main road it on the bus route for airport, Ipanema and Copacabana. Good restaurants and bars nearby. You must visit Belmonte - 5 mins walk and fantastic food and service (out of the hotel, turn right, right at end of the road and you'll find it!) Pleasant and friendly. The building is an... More

The only good thing about this place is that a few of the staff are friendly. This place was very expensive for a old boring plain room with windows that barely shut. All the latches didn't work correctly, the toilet barely flushed and we had to tip cups fully of water to actually help it drain anything. The bathroom sink... More

Friendly staff at reception, STILL THEY CHARGE 15 REALES FOR A CRAPPY INTERNET SERVICE WHICH DOESN'T WORK AT ALL, AND WHICH UPON COMPLAINT, THE MANAGEMENT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING TO SOLVE. IT'S INCREDIBLE RIO WANTS TO HOST THE OLYMPICS WITH THIS KIND OF SERVICES WHICH ARE NOT UP TO THE STANDARDS OF INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AND LEISURE TRAVELERS. It's the second time... More

The building is really old, and it needs maintenance and redecoration. Sheets and towels are clean, though. Breakfast is very simple. At around 7 in the morning we started listening to people moving furniture upstairs; we called reception to complain but it went on the whole morning. Next morning, same thing. Something very very serious was that my nephew put... More
