This is just good hotel. It doesn't excel in all. Rooms are fine breakfast is okay. The pool on the roof is small but ok. Price is ok. Great is the fact that is just 2 blocks from copacabana beach. So if you look for a just good hotel this is the place.

The hotel is very clean for the price. I always came back to a spotless room that was clean smelling and cared for by a friendly and attentive staff. There was a daily breakfast that was ample in selection and an affordable room service menu that was average but always brought with a smile. The English was spotty so I... More

Nothing wrong with the room which was big enough and clean (though a bit old fashioned) but the hotel lacks ambience and looks more like a business hotel. Twelve floors, and just three blocks away from the Copacabana beach. Wifi works well and the breakfast is very nice. If you take a taxi back to the airport, take one on... More

Tagged along for the first week of my wife's 2 week work trip. A nice hotel. The Rooms are average sized with a nice sized bathroom. The bed was a little old but we slept well so no complaints. The Breakfast each morning was very well done. Fresh Fruit and Juices - a varied selection of hot dishes, granolas and... More

My stay here was wonderful. The rooms are clean and modern with all your basic amenities. We stayed there for 2 nights, the staff were a little grumpy. The hotel room we got made up for it though and the views were spectacular.

On our honeymoon in 2015, during our 5 days in Rio, we were very happy to stay exclusively at the South American. It greatest charm is its location just off Copacabana beach and so it was quite reasonable, in a great location. On arrival, we were very grateful to receive a complimentary breakfast at the hotel. (We loved the quantity... More

Stayed here 3 nights in March. It was a very good location between the beaches and close to the Metro. However, the staff were not nice at all. Poor English and poor knowledge about their own town and area. The rooms were ok size, but the rooms were nothing special. Breakfast was your typical hotel breakfast in South America -... More

We arrived at the hotel at midnight to be greeted by the most unhelpful & arrogant man I have ever encountered in 35 years of traveling. He seemed to think it was a sport to be ignorant and rude. It was only this one individual who had such a bad attitude, the rest of the staff where fine. On the... More

People working at the reception don't know how to politely behave. Every time you ask them for something they'll misbehave, always in very bad mood, not caring about customers at all. DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL unless you want to be treated very bad.

Upon arrival, we encountered two representatives of acceptance, a man and a woman. Deceived including exploitative and ruthless. Vamp the fact that we do not understand young tourist and not knowledge. That's why we have high financial costs than expected. To be fair I should point out that we received good service and favorable reception from two other representatives of... More
