I went during the 2014 FIFA World Cup with my family, and whilst we didn't encounter any real problems during our stay, we felt that the quality of the rooms were simply not up to scratch and the bathroom was below average. Also, it was disappointing that not one staff member could speak any reasonable English, so we had to... More

We were sent to Merlin as the hotel we initially picked (Acapulco Copacabana) was overbooked. The hotel is very dated, room is spacious, but the decor and furniture are old. We had a good night sleep. Bathroom seemed to be recently renovated. The main thing we didn't like was the food. Poor choice of hot dishes and everything was just... More

Location, although only a few blocks from the not-so-nice-end of Copacabana beach, really exposes you to realities of life in Rio. It's on a super busy street not far from a tunnel that everyone warns you shouldn't be walking through which makes you put up your guard at all times. When we were there, I had a real problem with... Just 3 blocks away from Leme and Copacabana beaches, and located on a very busy and noisy avenue. Nice for the day, but not for wandering at night, specially for foreigner tourists, since it is close to some brothels. Excellent breakfast and nice staff. Rooms are just fine.

The hotel is located about 200m back from the beach and there are some shops where you can buy basics between the hotel and the beach. My room was a good size and clean and service was good in the hotel. The area immediately outside of the hotel felt safe. Breakfast was good and there is a swimming pool on... More

Reasonably priced hotel given that the World Cup and Olympics are going to push up prices in Rio. Conveniently located near Copacabana beach and you can get to Corcovado rail station for 20 Reals. However, if you have to get to the Sheraton at leblon, it will take you 40 minutes with the Rio traffic and cost you approx 30... More

All the dependencies of this hotel is claiming for reformation. The hotel are too old, the room was uncomfortable. The breakfast wasn't enough, there's a lot of bread and they clearly took of somethings and use in the next day. Like it is not so much, was very expensive. I am sure that you can find a better place to... More

Been there in 2014 october. Just another beach hotel with tiles in the room. Nice view from the terrace where the pool is. Location is good just 2 minutes from tHe beach. The staff is polite and nice but the hotel needs refurbishment as all there is old. Also they claim they have a gym but there are only 4... More

Stayed at this hotel while on a business trip. Good location, but hotel is very dated. Nothing quite worked as it is meant to do. The previous occupant had left a toe nail in the bathroom which was still there even after the room had been cleaned 3 times!
