Although we wrote two messages in advance that we will arrive early and if we could have an early room, they let us wait for nearly 7 hours!!! We couldn't even check in at 12.00 but only 2.30 p.m. The room was good and new, but the bathroom was not nice at all. Shower really old and dirty, at the... More

If you were to be lucky enough to stay in a renovated room this review might not apply. However, I did not have that luck. The room I stayed in, on the 13th floor, has not been updated since probably 1975. Dark, old, creepy bathrrom, tired mattress, old sheets and very old pillows. Very disappointing. Breakfast was similar. Very disappointing-... More

On hotels.com the rooms looks oke. But when you arrive you get a room straight from the 70's. In the blanket I found some hairs from one of the previous guests. The bathroom is in total 70's design. The breakfast is fine but not that special. The only good thing is you have a great view from the rooftop restaurant... More

We stayed in the hotel twice during our trip. It was important for us to keep luggage in the hotel for several days while we were traveling around the country. They confirmed it before the trip and in the end it was price for value experience. Great location: 1 block from street with supermarket, shops, restaurants, few minutes to metro... More

They advertise it as 4 stars hotel, we pay top dollar and you believe or not it was referred by an tourism company called maxxima turismo em São Paulo. They gave us a bedroom with ocean view and the condition of the bedroom was nest. I posted pictures and hope you can see it, look like bedroom of favela. I... More

Most hotels in Rio are overpriced for what they are and to some degree the Everest is no exception. However, we got a good deal at only £85 per night for 2 people B&B and it actually represented excellent value. The location is brilliant - one block to the beach in one direction, and one to all the main shops... More

Hotel located 1 block from the beach in Ipanema, the area is pretty safe, 1 block to the main street where all the shops, stores and banks are located. Upon checking in, the front desk staff was very nice, very friendly and told me everything I need to know, pool upstairs, breakfast, and the surrounding area. My room is very... More

We have spent several times at this hotel, but this will for sure be the last time. First some smaller problems in the check in with my Brazilian wife, they told her to put her mother's adress instead of her real adress in where she lives. She off course refused since she doesn't live there anymore. This because it would... More

The room had interior which looked old and used. In the bathroom everything looked like in the 70ies. The door of the shower was very hard to move. The good side is that the hotel is just one block from the beach. Also the breakfast on 23rd floor is good and you have great views. I would come here again... More

Staying in Ipanema

Neighborhood Profile
Ipanema
Ipanema is considered Rio's crown jewel. It offers the best view of the sunset from Arpoador and is inspiration for the legendary song, “The Girl from Ipanema.” Ipanema is an upscale area, home to many high-end restaurants and luxury shops, many of which can be found on the charming Garcia d'Ávila Avenue. The neighbourhood is very rich culturally, housing many art galleries that show contemporary art. There is also a great variety of nightlife in the neighbourhood, which buzzes with many options for every taste.
