Hotels in Leblon and Ipanema (and Copacabana for that matter) are almost all of a certain age. Unlike São Paulo, which has many newly built or refurbished hotels and apart-hotels, Rio hotel rooms are mostly fairly antiquated with dated bathroom fixtures and simple room furnishings. The Everest Rio provides basic accomodation and only its location (Prudente de Moraes st., in Ipanema) can justify the rates. This mid size hotel is located on Prudente de Morais street, one block from the Ipanema beach. However, this is not a beach hotel at all. Rather a business and to some degree convention hotel.
