Stayed at the Arpoador Inn in late March 2009. Everything about the hotel was good, particularly the loc ation, except a R$140 service charge, payable in cash only upon checkout. I still do not understand what it was about (it was not local taxes). Nor was it disclosed at the time of booking. more

Just spent three nights here and loved the location! The hotel rooms are simple and clean and the hotel staff were always very helpful...there is always at least one person at the front desk that speaks English. Great location; very clean, but small rooms. Very helpful staff; quiet at night. An odd and very annoying request for a separate tax, about 10%; cash only -- dollars or reais. Great water pressure in the shower. The outdoor patio seating above the beach is an excellent choice for a drink at sunset. more

my husband and I stayed here over new years 2008. We had booked the most basic room. The room was very clean (quite small but we had only 2 hold alls) and a good sized bathroom. Arpoador Inn was booked for its proximity to the beach - which is fantastic, except that it rained pretty much the entire length of our stay. Outstanding location, very helpful staff, decent and clean rooms. Not cheap for brazilian pockets, but if you can afford it, totally worth it. Depending on where you go, what you can save on cabs will give you a nice discount. more
