Spent 5 days with a group of friends. Hotel is in a decent location but will need to take a taxi to get anywhere besides the semi-private beach. Service was decent and room was ok. Upgraded to club floor which secured a good sized patio with view of beach. Hotel needs alot of repair. Its many years by the sea... more

Was there for two weeks. First week on the second floor (while working). Second week (vacation) on the 25th floor. Both rooms were good, clean, quiet. Best part, for me, was that they left the mini-bar unlocked and left room for your own leftovers/beverages. I bought beer at the local Zona Sul grocery and stored it there. you pay I... more

I had to travel to Rio to attend a conference. The Sheraton is close enough to Leblon and Ipanema that you can go walking (except at night, when it is not safe because the hotel is at the base of a favela). If you stay here, this is my advice: ask for a room with a full ocean view (some... more

10 days here offered everything a person would want from a sun-seeking holiday hotel… The initial room offered, had the usual view of the favela, but we immediately went down to the friendly reception and they upgraded us to an outstanding room with a gorgeous view of the sunrise- albeit, all the beds that side of the hotel face the... more

I just took one night, but after a hard day of work, was a great pleasure, to find a very clean and comfortable room reserved. I hope to return someday to enjoy all the amenities with my family. In fact the hotel is a little bit isolate of some popular places of the city, but all them can be reached... more

After reading all of the reviews I decided to stay at both the Sheraton Barra and the Sheraton Leblon. Why not experience both? First I spent four incredible days at the Sheraton Leblon which felt more like a resort. Although older than the Sheraton Barra, it is in a fantastic location that is very close to Leblon and Ipanema and... more

my friend and i have just come back from a week in Rio staying at the Sheraton....what a disappointment. All i will say is dont waste your money - this certainly was not a five star hotel. We had an issue with our bathroom....twice the toilet flooded, then the toilet wouldn't flush, then we had no hot water!! given the... more

It was such an oasis in the big nosiy city of Rio. Of course you pay Sheraton prices, but if you are looking for a resort like atmosphere to return to after a big day of sightseeing, this is the place. Right on the beach, great pool, sounds of waves crashing, easy access to buslines, walk or short cab to LeBlon... more

I stayed for four nights and breakfast was not included! very expensive and to find out Americans staying had paid $20 less per night and with breakfast whilst staying was particulary galling. I needed a glass of fresh milk when it came it was UHT and tasted powdery when it came I was charged a record $14 on the bill... more

Location – yes, it is a little out of the way, about 5-10 minutes taxi to Ipanema beach (approx 10 reals, just over £3), or via hotel shuttle (I did not use this) but one of the things I liked about the hotel is that it is one of the very few with direct beach access. All hotels along Ipanema... more
