I had been to lunch at the Copacabana Palace's beachview restaurant on a past trip to Rio and was so enchanted I promised I would take my partner there if I could persuade her to visit Rio - and I finally did, for a three-night stay. We had an ocean-view room in the new building overlooking the pool; we thought... more

The hotel and location are wonderful but expected a higher degree of customer service throughout our 5 day stay. On checking out I was asked if the stay had been good, I expressed my disappointments and expected the hotel management would follow up after leaving my email address - answer no so far. The room was clean and they fixed... more

This is by far Rio's most classic old hotel, and choosing a newer one over it would be to deny yourself the real Rio de Janeiro experience! The poolside area is one of the most pleasant spots in Rio de Janeiro and the view from the rooms is amazing. They have a trendy new nightclub and their spa is gorgeous... more

I had research for weeks about where to stay in Rio - mainly debated between Ipenema (staying either at the Fasano or Cesaer Park) or the Copacabana Palace. Even though it was really expensive, I am happy we went with the Palace. The pool, workout room/spa area and restaurant/bar were excellent. The location on the beach is amazing, and the... more

We spent Christmas 2006 at the Copacabana Palace and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Rooms vary greatly whithin hotel. Family had a larger suite type room with no view and I had a smaller room but with a beach view. Small lobby but very nice and relaxing pool area; a nice haven in a bustling city. Loved the flip flops you get... more

What can I say about the Copacabana Palace? We stayed here for 3 nights and then left to go to another hotel in another part of town…big mistake. Less than 12 hours later we were back at the CC Palace questioning why we’d ever left. It’s the jewel in the crown of Rio and as far as I’m concerned and... more

Initially, we started our vacation in Rio at the Ipanema Plaza Hotel. After two weeks of travel between Brazil, Argentina and Chile - we ended up back in Rio before our departure home. We stayed at some wonderful hotels during our vacation but came up against a brick wall in Santiago, Chile. It wasn't that our hotel was particularly bad... more

We stayed here for 3 nights on our honeymoon, but couldn't help being a bit disappointed. The hotel was fine and we didn't experience any problems (we were in an ocean view room in the old building), but the place just feels like it's lost something since its hayday. For the price, I was expecting old school glamour, but instead... more

This hotel is old and the rooms show their age with musty carpets, old television sets, and some dirty tiles in the bathroom. That can all be forgiven as this hotel lives on its past and when you stay there you don't expect designer furniture. What you do expect however is to be treated with respect as a guest paying a... more
