All staff extremely helpful and very accommodating, and speak perfect english. Helped us book trips, told us the best places to visit, and made sure everything was ok. Great location if you want to party! Lapa parties are the best! Free breakfast every morning! A free caipirinha every night! Rooms are clean and have lockers to keep your valuables safe.... More

Caipihostel is a place to meet a good friends, but still have a problems. My friend was stolen in his locker, the bathrooms were not clean. Apart from that, I had good experience there with my friends.

Technically, I wasn't a guest, but I was definitely treated like one! Having arrived in Rio on the first day of Carnival, the staff (very kindly) held my luggage, to save me the inconvenience of having to drop off my stuff at my own hostel. They even let me and my friend sleep in their lobby after our night out... More

If you are looking to stay in Lapa, this is definitely the place. Always playing good music, good breakfast, clean, comfortable and close to everything. The staff is awesome (Thea, Pedro, Sita and Gita) and its a great place to be social and meet people. Thanks Caipi! :)

If Jesus himself created a hostel, he couldn´t have done it better himself. The best hostel in Rio with amazing staff, live music, and overall a great culture and vibe. I would recommend this hostel for anyone passing through. Centrally located to many bars and restaurants in the heart of Lapa there is always something to do here. If you... More

If you can overlook the lousy and unfriendly Argentinian staff @ Caipi, you are in for a treat in Lapa. Wonderfully positioned in Lapa, close to buses to the beaches, Caipi works for the value. The rooms were semi-clean but bathrooms were not quite well-kept (as expected for high season) The travelers coming thru were awesome & got all my... More

Very good located hostel in the centrum of Lapa (great party's) You can go by Metro or Taxi too the beach (copacabana,...) Bring good earplugs, especially in the weekends, there's a lot of noise and a loud airco. But with earplugs there is no problem at all. Every night at 8 enjoy a free caipirinha and meet new people! Breakfast... More

One of the best hostels I've stayed in around the world. Subsidised food in restaurant next door (all you can eat). So close to lapa street parties, bars, clubs and the steps! Great atmosphere. No breakfast but small bar snacks and a free caiprinah. Good, big dorms, quite modern. Met some cool people here. Quiet but small smoking area. Wifi... More

We stayed in he mixed dorm on the top floor. There were quite a few beds in the room close together but there are huge drawers underneath your bed to store your things. The only bad thing was the bed sockets to charge phones etc didnt work so we were fighting for the plug sockets. The hostel is great, the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to the best hostel in the world!!! Well…maybe not yet, since we open our doors on July 7th 2012. But that’s our goal!! And we’ll go above and beyond to make it happen!!! Things you should know before coming here:• This is a backpacker hostel and we praise the backpacker lifestyle. So, we chose to offer awesome facilities for free and a cheap price for the stay. All rooms are the same: 6 bunk beds (12 people), with spring matress, big individual drawer and bed light, wi-fi and security cards for each room. • We have air conditioning everywhere (in the rooms from 10pm to 10am) and a great common area with a happy hour bar, tv and a lounge area for smokers. We are really serious about having fun and sleeping. This means that after 11pm, the party must go on in the streets! Guests who do not respect this, will be invited to leave.• We don't have private rooms because we want you to meet new people and make friends. We also don’t have breakfast neither kitchen facilities because of some building issues. But food around here is really cheap.• We are in Lapa: a insane place with street parties, historical buildings, loads of bars and restaurants and amazing people from around the world; but it’s not a wealthy neighbourhood and you well see the real side of Rio, not just the postcard picture!• We’re not beside the beach, which means you’ll see more locals walking in the streets during the day, not only tourists. You can get there easily by bus (25min) or subway (20min); and what you spend to go there, you’ll save when you walk to the bars at night. • Remember: we only accept CASH! And the payment must be at the check-in. There are several ATMs on our street and the Police Central is in front of us. Read our terms and conditions too.• If after all, you decide to come: Congratulations!! You just signed up for one of the greatest tripping experiences at the best soon-to-be hostel of the world. ... more   less
