It's rare to find a hostel with such character to it. The building is beautiful with lovely high ceilings and our room had a pretty balcony. We spent 3 nights here to kick off our Brazilian trip and it has been an enjoyable stay. Very friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, good facilities, quiet at night. Slept well and excellent... This hostel is one we keep gravitating back to when visiting Rio. Although the location in Santa Teresa is a bit awkward, once you get used to the hike up to the restaurants of Curvelo and Guimaraes or down to Lapa proper with its many bars and eateries, it becomes easier to accept the hike back to the hostel. If... More

Excellent stay for the carnival. We stayed in the private rooms with ensuites and it was great. Nice breakfast, great happy hour and overall a very nice atmosphere. Very central and close to all the carnival action. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Warning, if driving park where the hostel recommends and not around the back streets. They will give... More

This is a hard review to write, because this hostel itself is really lovely. The rooms are big and charming with high ceilings and nice bathrooms. The staff was nice and friendly too. However, within two hours of arriving, we were held up at gunpoint. We'd asked for a recommendation for a place close by to eat and also asked... More

The suite standard was fine, but some details could make a difference. For example, there wasn't a place to leave the shower stuff, like soap and shampoo, and the towel is not so good. The bathroom door needs to be fixed. But all the areas are very clean and comfortable, and the staff is great.

This was a really great hostel. The location in Santa Theresa neighborhood was awesome, although at the time that we visited (during the World Cup), the cable cars weren't running, so it was difficult to get to on a one-way street. But it was a quick ten minute walk to the bars/street partying in Lapa, which was really hopping! The... More

It was a great hostel which I saw ever in Brazil. The hostel location in the center of Rio de Janeiro, Santa Teresa district, 5 minutes. walk to the Lapa's Aqueduct. The hostel occupies a beautiful old building built in 1920. The staff speaks English, is very pleasant and helpful. Exellent breakfast, not all hotels have offered such. Milkshake with... More

Spent 18 days here during the World Cup and couldn't have asked for more! Felt like a second home by the time i was leaving, and as it was the first place i visited on my solo travels this meant a lot. Really social hostel in great location close to Lapa and Santa Teresa. Great common room and balcony areas... More

One of the staff working at the hostel, Sissi, was the nicest person that I had met in my 3 week trip across South America. The hostel is very very lucky to have her working there. She gives up so much of her time to ensure that those who stay at the hostel have an enjoyable experience.
