Come to this hostel: • Want to lose weight? You will lose it in sweat alone at this hostel! To save money, power to AC device is turned off during most of the day until about 9:30. • Cold water is better for you isn't it? To save money, there is no hot water here. • Would hate to eat... More

I'm telling you there are lots of bedbugs there. Me and my boyfriend stayed there in a private room and we got lots of bites and we saw bed bugs crawling in our bed and was hiding in my boyfriend's shirt. The owner didn't care and didn't give our refund. Rooms are not good and bathroom is gross!!

Bedbugs, I think thats enough said. The price didn't match my expectations(overpriced private room.) Checked out after 1hour... This is rubbish! I would advise you to stay away from this hostel. You can get a O.K hotel in Norway for almost the same price, REALLY disappointed and kind of offended.

We arrived to Carioca hostel at 20:00, the day before the match between Spain and Chile, we've booked a 6p private room. First of all we had to wait like an hour in the lobby with our bags, then they told us that hostel is oversold and they are going to give us an apartment close to the beach. So... More

My friends and I stayed at hostel Carioca during our time travelling Brasil for the World Cup. We did not have huge expectations staying at Hostel Carioca but definitely enjoyed our time there. Although the facilities were a little small, it made meeting everyone easier. I met a lot of great people at this hostel- from Russia, South Africa, Argentina,... More

The hostel is in a nice location just a couple of blocks from the beach. The dorms are quite large and the ones upstairs at least are quite bright and airy. The staff are friendly and do their best to make the place comfortable and welcoming (shout out to Pedro). The most serious drawback is with the bathroom facilities. There... More

I did really want to give this place a decent rating & review but I can only tell it how it is. We stayed here 31/05/13 & 01/06/13. My friend and I were in 8 bed dorm & the beds were that crammed in there that I could not get to my bed properly or even get my bag through... More

We were there just for one night, a weekend night. We didn't expect too much. It is a hostel, what can you want more that to be close to beach (Copacabana, 15 minutes, walking) , to have a place where you can sleep, to take a shower and charge phone or laptop. The staff were nice, helpful, the internet wifi... More

The rooms are decent are clean, as well as the bathrooms. Great location in copacabana, close to public transportation and the beach. The staff is nice and helpful. The breakfast is included in the price and is served on a nice terrace. Although I think the price is a bit too high (45 reais per night).

Staying in Copacabana

Neighborhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
