We stayed here for 4 nights on our first touchdown in Brazil. Sonia has a nice penthouse apartment near the copacabana beach in a safe area. It was good for us to stay here on our first few days in Brazil. We had the room with no aircondition and no tv but that was not a problem in early November... More

We stayed here for four nights in Sept 2015. It's on Rua Tonelero, just before the tunnel connecting Copacabana to Ipanema/Leblon, and like the name suggests the lodging is a homestay. Sonia rents out two rooms in her apartment on the top floor of a residential apartment block. There's a receptionist 24/7 downstairs. The place is 4 blocks back from... More

This B&B is in a very safe and central place so that you feel at home from the first day you arrived. You have everything you need in a minute walking: bus stops, all kind of stores, great bakerys, Copacabana Beach... really everything. The room is cosy and comfortable and there is a very pleasent atmosphere in Sonia's appartment. In... More

Sonia's B&B was exactly what we had hoped for - somewhere safe, clean, 'homely' and with the added bonus of an awesome host. Sonia is not only extremely friendly and helpful, but is the perfect host that really makes you feel like you are staying at your friend's place rather than a stranger. She also speaks perfect English! The apartment... More

Sonia is a lovely lady. More like a friend than a entrepreneur. She speaks English very well, which is exceptional in Brasil (yes, also in Rio). Not only you pay less money for your room.. Hotels in Rio are very, very expensive! Sonia also makes you fell welcome in a pleasant personel way. We really like to recommend Sonia's B&B!

I stayed at Sonia's for 2 weeks while studying at a local language school. The location is brilliant - a few minutes walk from the metro and from the beach as well as right beside the shops and restaurants. The apartment is great and gives a real feel of fifties-style Copacabana. It isn't modern like some of the places you... More

Staying in Copacabana

Neighborhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
