We stayed in the entry level room, which was basic but very comfortable and great value. The breakfast rivaled some of the best hotels we've stayed in - loved the omelette. The staff were super helpful, friendly and warm. The area is also quaint and quite central. One thing to consider is that their are no lifts, so if you... More

A wonderful location tumbling downhill. A tribe of tiny monkeys came for breakfast on the lovely tree shaded terrace. The service was perfect - the help provided well beyond the call of duty. I thought my room must be the bridal suite -beautiful white curtains and a four poster bed. Santa Theresa is a beautiful part of Rio. A good... More

My husband and I stayed here for two nights, the staff were really friendly and helpful, breakfast was good and Christian's Caipirinhas were amazing! The room was nice, it had a four poster bed, really comfortable with a large terrace, loungers table and chairs. We would definitely come back here. There are great bars and restaurants close by.

I had a lovely room in this local pousada. We really enjoyed staying there and being able to walk to different restaurants in this characterful neighbourhood. It is very different to other parts of Rio and perhaps has a more local and individual feeling about it. We were in a group of friends and three of us had lovely rooms... More

After negotiating the JCB's digging up the road outside to get to the non descript front door my apprehension levels were high. Once settled inside, the charm of the staff and hotel took over and I knew we'd made a good choice. Much like Santa Teresa, the hotel is laid back but with attention to detail on the things that... The staff at Quinta are friendly and helpful. The place itself is adorable and has a lot of charm. It's walkable to everyone in Santa Teresa as well as Lapa, and a quick ten minute walk to the train station. I would recommend it to anyone who is traveling on a bit of a budget who still wants delicious breakfast... More

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here for our final 2 nights of an 18 day tour of Brazil. We booked it based on trip advisor reviews, and compared to other areas of Rio it was reasonably priced. We arrived in the afternoon and the guy on reception was friendly, welcoming and helpful and took us straight to our room (number... More

Santa Teresa is a quiet, turn of the century neighborhood enjoying a renaissance, as artisans and younger Cariocas move in and reclaim and gentrify the once forgotten area where the streetcars navigate cobblestone streets. It now boasts several restaurants and coffee shops, and shops showcasing the talents of local artists. Amidst the two story 1910 homes is the comfortable and... More

best localization at Santa Teresa. It is peaceful, well done as service, room and breakfast in between of the trees, close to good restaurants, stores, park and too easy to go to touristic points and beaches.

Santa Teresa is a perfect neighborhood to discover Río away from the tourist traps of Copacabana & Impanema. Quinta Azul is right in the heart of excellent restaurants, bars, cafes, parks, art galleries & old buildings. You'll probably see some great live music too! Quinta Azul has a tasty breakfast on the patio, and it's likely you'll be joined by... More

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
