I Love THIS place. Nice People, great accommodations, fabulous location. I enjoy my staying there and I couldn't leave. Thanks a lot to the crew, wonderful friends. I highly recommend this place. Don't doubt it, Get in There.

Its just a terrible, terrible place. Heed all of the warnings! Obviously a 36 bed dorm is never going to be a breeze but the common area is just an old gym room where men used to watch themselves pump iron. Its a converted gym and it still smells like it.

I checked out of this hell hole this morning and am paying to stay in a hotel instead, I have been all over the world 1st, and 3rd world countries and can easily say I´ve slept better in airports than I did here. I read the same bad reviews you guys and gals are all reading and one said, ´´don´t... More

If you value your health and safety, do not stay here. Loose wiring everywhere (including in the showers - my friend got an electric shock while having a shower)filthy bathrooms, no ventilation, hot and stuffy, recirculated air conditioning, no natural light in the large dorm room, firetrap, broken stairs, very unsafe.

You don't wanna stay here. Trust me. You can get much better hostels for the same price. The only average thing I experienced was the breakfast, which they've handled pretty well. Anyway, the rooms are overcrowded, smell, hot, and most do not have windows at all. The place is NOT clean. I avoided the restrooms throughout my 24 hour stay... More

This is a well run basic hostel with friendly helpfull staff. Phillipe helped with or onward journey and in booking bus tickets in Portugese. The in-house entertainment is also worth the visit alone.Very happy overal.

There are far too many beds put in the one room - serious overcrowding issues. Simply nowhere to put your bag - I had to sleep with my bag on the bed with me. Very hot rooms because they are so full. Breakfast was ok, until I saw the girl preparing it and then refused to eat it again after... More

Rooms were hot and overcrowded, there is no hot water. the doors could not be closed. Wifi was shocking, the swimming pool was dirty and no one had the courage to stay in there. The hostel is overcrowded on hollidays and you may also sleep on the floor, because there is no space for so many beds.

I really enjoyed my stay in Hercus Hostel because the staff starting from Leila was more than wonderful !! The hostel is located in a very good place. 20 minute walk from Copacabana beach and about 10-15minute walk to metro station Siqueira Campos. From the RIO International Airport, taxi will take about 50-60R$ and 45 minutes. Ipanema beach is 30... More

The guy at the counter of this hostel with black hair from Europe is arrogant. No respect at all. Told us to find the room for ourselves and gave us directions. He was too busy on the phone to his friends. He told us the big boss would be coming in and we need to hurry up and go up... More

Staying in Copacabana

Neighborhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
