Hi Vidigalbergue Rio Hostel! The hostel with the biggest hospitality I’ve ever been! I loved my stay in Rio and you guys contributed in an incredible way with your uplifting mood, happiness and availability “Show de bola”. The hostel is located in one of the most spectacular places in Rio, the Vidigal favela! The seaside view is the best of... More

I stayed here over Easter weekend when it was particularly busy. There was a really great atmosphere and very helpful staff. The location is slightly out of the main area of Copacababa/Ipanema etc, but we definitely got great value for money as a result, and the transport links are excellent. The favela is probably safer than the rest of Rio,... More

This was the first hostel I have ever stayed in as a backpacker and can honestly say nothing since has compared! I originally booked in for one night in January and ended up staying three weeks....they were so accommodating in letting me stay for carnival. The staff are AMAZING - really make you welcome and feel like part of the... More

This hostel is AMAZING! I have already started telling people to stay here when in Rio. We were here for Carnival 2013, and I couldn't have been happier! As all the other reviews mention, the views, the breakfast and the hosts are incredible. Luis and Andre are travelers themselves so know exactly what info you want and are more then... More

My review is a bit delayed, since I stayed here in June of 2012. I felt it was necessary to write this review since this was by far the best place we stayed in during our 21-day backpacking tour of central and northeastern Brasil. I think this place is a well kept secret because many travellers may be put off... More

My girlfriends and I stayed at this hostel in October of 2011. We were a little nervous at first as the taxi dropped us off at a favela. After settling in we were offered caipirinhas and met some of the others staying. We made friends from all over the world. Breakfast and the view were incredible and definitely worth more... More

Vidigalbergue is an eye-opener on the reality of the communidades like Vidigal and Rocinha. It provides a safe, clean and incredibly hospitable environment for you to venture as deep into the communities as you wish. I've returned over a dozen times, sometimes just to say hello when I'm in town, because these guys are like family to me! BTW, they... More
