This is one of our very few BAD experiences with hotels as we don't expect much: we are pretty independent (no lengthy conversations with the staff), usually only staying in the room to sleep. So, what is BAD in this hotel: - STAFF (one rude and clueless, one nice and clueless and one nice and helpful receptionist). The first night... More

I am a budget traveler and am always looking for a deal, but this hotel looks like a place where they'd film a movie about crackheads. The rooms were run down, dank and depressing and yes, my room had BED BUGS (and I have the bites to prove it). At first I saw one bug on the bed after I... More

Very friendly and helpful receptionists each time I passed by the front desk. That and its easy location in Lapa would definitely convince me to return and recommend to others. Note that Lapa is lively at night as you will both see and hear at all hours of the day & night. There are always police just steps outside the... More

Not the nicest area but felt safe walking. The rooms were large and comfy. Enjoyed the large indoor/outdoor pool on the roof. Breakfast was great. Didn't have any other meals at the hotel, so can't comment.

VERY unfriendly and unhelpful staff. Seedly location. A guy standing outside the hotel was smoking pot. I wanted to use the WiFi in the lobby for ONE minute and the nasty woman at reception would not help me.

Friendly staff some of whom spoke English. Good breakfast including hot and cold foods. Good value as the rooms are large and quiet. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed the convenience of the location for sight seeing.

I found the staff were very helpful, the rooms clear and comfortable, and a good standard budget hotel. The location is good and although the street felt a little uncomfortable on immediate arrival, its right beside a number of busy avenues and you will encounter absolutely no problem. I would definitely stay there again. Remember, its a budget hotel and... More

a dream to visit Rio de Janeiro, and the hotel is just a place where the comfort you need to gain strength. Hotel Americano is small, with a spiral staircase. the interior staircase and a little confused on arrival, but eventually ended up in the heart of the life of Rio)), here you poured into the ordinary life of another... I found Hotel Americano at the last minute during my trip to Rio. Property is on a somewhat rough back street, but I had no problems with anyone. Located maybe three blocks from the Gloria Metro station, and one block from the Arcos da Lapa. There were two good bars very close. The staff was always pleasant and helpful with... More
