We had a great stay at Lagoa Guest House! The staff are so informative and always happy to help- giving good advice and helping us find out how to get to places. It has good dorm rooms with secure lockers. There is a nice atmosphere there with communal areas and a kitchen for guests to use (supermarket nearby too!) it's... More

But, when I got in here, the atmosphere it's amazing, I came here by myself and thery were always helpful, caring and taking care of me at any time. I felt like home and the staff it's incredibly usefull. Rooms, lockers and bathrooms are clean and in... More

The Lagoa Guest House has a nice familiar atmospher, combined with welcoming and polite employees. Even though it's a hostel, it has very quiet areas. For instance, I came to Rio in order to study and I'm not having any troubles studying. Also, things like drunk people arriving in the middle of the night, puking everywhere never hapens here (as... Everything was perfect! We had a friendly lady from the hostel pick us up from the airport. The hostel is located in Lagoa, a beatiful spot near Christ the Redeemer. The rooms have big lockers, good wifi connection and free towels! There´s a beautiful spread of food for breakfast every morning which is free as well as a fully equipped kitchen... More

We stayed here for 5 nights in a private room but unfortunately didn't enjoy our stay which was mainly due to the lack of any type of atmosphere. Pros: Clean room and clean kitchen area. Bathrooms also cleaned regularly Air con Staff friendly enough Cons: No alcohol allowed to be bought in but you can buy their overpriced alcohol Both... More

I arrived in Rio and this place made it feel like a home away from home. The staff were so friendly and happy to provide you with heaps of info on stuff to do around Rio and the local area. As an independent traveller this place felt safe and the dorm rooms were nice and clean. I would definitely stay... More

I've stayed in all sorts of places around the world and this was on the more grim side and can't unrest and it's 4.5* rating. The good points: Paul the English guy who works there. Really helpful and friendly. Decent breakfast, nice lounge area, good wifi and safe neighbourhood. Bad points: the single persons room is woeful, dirty and tiny.... More

The staff at reception and the owner -Fabio, were really accommodating and helpful (ie. giving directions to different places, providing recommendations for cool places to visit nearby, etc.). The location has its pros and cons: it's far from the subway line so you need to either take a bus everywhere or walk, which could take a while. The good thing... More

I took a group of 13 young people to Rio for World Youth Day and we spent 3 fantastic nights at this hostel. Fabio the owner could not have been more helpful and went out of his way when one of our group became ill.The hostel has a cracking lounge and kitchen area and it really felt like a home... More
