Breathtaking view of Rio with Pao de Azucar directly from the pousada. Very friendly and helpful international staff. The rooms are simple but clean. Breakfast very nice with tropical fruits, jam, ham, cheese. We felt absolutely save in the favela, everybody said, it`s save. The price for the rooms are very moderate. The only disadvantage was the getting there. You... More

Very friendly and helpful staff! The view from the rooftop is amazing as well from the rooms! It's a cultural and interesting area. And here you can live in the slum in a safe and pleasant way! We really liked to get up early and watch the sunrise!

Pousada Favalinha is a really nice Place with good vibes and a friendly and very helpful staff. The place itself has an amazing view and the neighbourhood has It's own charme. We stayed there during New Years and it was awesome. Also we think that the location of the hostel in the Favela/slum is in a safe and cultural neighbourhood!... More

it was a very good experience to live the way most of Rio's "real" people live. You must be in a fairly decent physical shape to stay at this type of location as it isn't accessible to disabled or elderly people.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. No air but the rooms are clean and relaxing. Good mixture of travelers. Located in a good area with no touristy noise. Great breakfast. All around a pleasant experience.

At least the best view. But also the staff is wonderful and the rooms are nice and clean. Don't worry about the neighborhood. It's pretty safe. We would advice this pousada to all kind of tourists except unadventurous ones. Thanks holger

Clean and spacious, basic room with en-suite, but lovely terrace and stunning views. Excellent value for money, although perhaps not for the more nervous traveller. Breakfast was adequate and the staff helpful. We loved it !!

Great fresh breakfast, clean room and decent wifi but Martin's (who has a house in the favela and works in the hostel) tour of the favela is the standout memory of my 4 month trip to South America. I have been to many great places and on many great tours but walking around the favela with someone who knows everyone... More

View is awesome and the crew is great! We got some papers with information about rio that was really helpful, the area is an experience and very safe. There is a cool project made by the youths in the favelha that you should check out! Also very easy access to the rest of the city, would defintely recommend you to... More

I had an amazing time at Pousada Favelinha. My (double) room was very clean and spacious. The view (on Sugar Loaf) from the balcony/rooftop is breathtaking!!! And the people who are working in the pousada are super friendly, they really made me feel at home. You can easily walk around in the favela, it's completely safe! But whenever you want... More

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
