Villa Laurinda is a sleeping beauty...and the owners were able to wake her up in style ! We spend a week there for the second time and it was again: a time to remember. The spaciuos garden, the pool, the rooms are like a home to us - home abroad. There is always a helping hand around with handy tips... More

Beautiful Villa in what feels like the rainforest, but in fact just a short way from the centre of Rio. Waking up to monkeys swinging in the trees was lovely. Pool is great, breakfast was fine. Cheaper rooms were small and didn't have air-con but that didn't bother me personally. The larger room was amazing. The staff were really helpful... More

I wish I could say more positive things about Vila Laurinda as it used to be 4 years ago. The owners are building a new house in the same property and it seems they see the maintenance of the Vila as second priority. In our suite the toilet was leaking, the shower was only possible with either very hot or... More

Dear Nathalia, we regreat your bad impression. There were construction works at Villa Laurinda during your last stay, it's true, and we apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused. The Villa had to go through improvements which you might judge as worthy if you visit us again. For the rest of the problems you mention, we were surprised why... More

This is the second time, we have stayed in these charming Pousada or Villa. We were in Rio for working purpose and had to go every day to the Centro. Vera und Clinton where super friendly helped us where ever we needed - organised every day a taxi to pick us up and drove us to work so we would... More

Villa Laurinda is a treat. Gentle and comfortable. Surrounded by small streets and trees it spreads a calm and very inviting atmosphere. Breakfast was generous and of excellent quality. Everything was homemade, prepared freshly and not coming out of a tin. The bed was superb. For me this was an ideal place to start my exploration of Santa Teresa and... More

Villa Laurinda is a really charming and beautiful place. We've stayed there with my partner at the end of a short trip to Rio. It was recommended by a friend of mine and we were happily surprised. It was more than we expected. The house is really extraordinary with the lovely garden and the swimming-pool. Our room was nice and... More

It is a beautiful place, very quiet, and relaxing, in Santa Teresa. I enjoyed my stay there, and Cleiton and Vera who manage the place are very nice and helpful. The breakfast on the terrace is a privilege moment.

Coming to Rio can be a very unsettling experience, unless you have a warm welcome. Before I came to Villa Laurinda, I had the unfortunate experience of a very expensive and very unfriendly "4 star" hotel on Ipanema Beach (Praia Ipanema Hotel). At first, Villa Laurinda may be hard to find, precisely because it's off the tourist circuit.... but once... More

I recently stayed at Villa Laurinda and really enjoyed the experience. Walled off from the madness of Rio, this sanctuary has a large outdoor swimming pool, a sauna and a charming old building that manages to maintain modern comfort without compromising its historical feel. I loved the shutters on the windows and the high ceilings, although it's not what I'd... More
