Stayed here with wife for five days, overlapping stay of MarkD80 with whom we went on the Favella tour and football match. John is the ideal host, who not only takes you on a local tour, but is a continual source of information. We stayed in a room just round the corner in the same gated community in an ideal... More

what makes the rio dolphin inn such a great place to stay - is its host, John. not only is the inn clean, full of maps, books and local information and in a safe location (a block from Ipanema) - John also offers his time and personal insights to every guest. oh and he stocks the fridge with the best... From the moment we arrived, John looked after us superbly. We stayed here for 3 nights back in November, prior to a Gap adentures tour to Buenos Airea we were doing. We arrived past midnight, but that was no hassle for John. He has two rooms in his house, but within minutes his house becomes your house. The room was... More

It was our first visit in Brasil and Rio and I can personaly say that John made our stay in Rio incredible. He is kind of person who REALLY loves to take you around the neighborhood, show you all possible places worth visiting on the map and talk abt Rio for hours:-) It is obvious and easy- he just loves... John was an excellent host. We arrived at 3AM and he was waiting to greet us. The next day, he showed us the map of Rio and told us the main spots we needed to visit given the limited time we had. Also, he went out of his way to tour us around the area wherein all the great restos... More

This was our 2nd visit in two years to the Rio Dolphin. At first, we were disappointed to learn that John, the owner, was going to be out of the country AND the inn was technically closed for renovations when we were coming. However, after pleading, John allowed us to take the only room not being touched, and he left... More

John went out of his way to make us feel welcome and was a mine of information about Rio - he clearly loves the city and it shows. We stayed in the Surfer Paradise rooms which were very comfortable and clean. You could not ask for a better location in Rio...I hope to go back to Rio one day and... More

Stayed at the Dolphin Inn for a few daya in late June. John wasn't there but his staff were always very helpful. The inn is undergoing renovations until the end of August and each room will have a private bathroom. The location, where Copacabana meets Ipanema, is unbeatable. More

My husband and I spent our last five nights of a two and a half month trek through Brazil in this amazingly hospitable B&B. The service John provided was top-notch. On arrival for an orientation, he walked us through the neighbourhood, pointing out the great places to eat, have a quiet drink, sample local dishes, where to catch the subway... More
