I stayed there for carnival 2009. I stayed in a 6 bed dorm, which ended up being 7 beds in a very small room. The beds were more like cot beds than single beds- very small! The room had no ventilation, was VERY hot in the room. There were only cold showers. But the receptionist was nice, and its right... More

The level of cleanliness...you can't even begin to use the word clean. The mattresses on the beds are so worn that you basically sleep on the boards beneath it. Several other... More

Everywhere in Ipanema was booked up so we had to take 2 dorm rooms in Ipanema Wave Hostel. The main employee Alex is lovely, very helpful and friendly. However the hostel is... More

wake up early for the complete breakfast. Alex is the employee that greeted us here and he is awesome. Very laid back atmosphere with a lot of friendly travelers. I think in comparison to the three hostels RIGHT NEXT DOOR this one hostel is better.

The staff tried to claim I had cancelled my credit card so they couldn't take a deposit and so they had given my bed away, even though on checking my bank account I could see they... More
