We had a fantastic stay at bamboo - we stayed in a private room which was lovely, good bathroom. The staff here are fab, always happy to help and taking people out to see the nightlife etc, we booked an excellent favela tour through the hostel too. Happy hour is awesome the caipirinhas were amazing!! Really nice terrace. Good location... More

The Bamboo Rio hostel is a very nice place to stay.. The location of this hostel is very good.. It is few blocks away from Subway and from famous Copacabana beach.. The hostel is very clean. Initial 2 days I stayed in mixed 4 sharing room. The sharing rooms are moderately good. The last 2 days of my Rio trip,... More

I'm torn on giving my review 3 stars because the staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful, but I didn't find the amenities up to par with the number of people they book there. As you can see from other reviewers, my complaint is the same: they try to cram too many people into the rooms. I was fortunate to... More

Thank you so much for staying with us, we are very happ to know that you liked our hostel and hope you come back another time. As for the noise we always ask our guests tobe respectul and not to make noise early in the morning or late at night, but in the dormitories it is really hard to control. More

Horrible in a busy weekend. Okay during weektime. Let me explain. Weekend: this place is packed with Brazilian travelers. Travelers who are very loud, do not consider other travelers on the dorm at all. Can not speak any other language than Portuguese so don't try to be social what so ever, also the 'packed' part is really packed. Do not... More

I was surprised to see how good this hostel is. Good location, just a few blocks from subway station and Copacabana beach. The staff is super friendly and helpful (specially Baltazar).the accomodations are ok and it's clean. They even offer breakfest (included on the peixe) and happy hours with free caipirinhas. Super great! I highly reccomend it!

Great location in a safe street in Copacabana, really friendly and helpful staff, decent bar with free caipirinhas at happy hour, great opportunity to meet plenty of new people, good place if you're up for a party and also decent enough for sleeping. Clean, plenty of tours on offer (although it's generally cheaper to do things yourself), good wifi connection... More

We stayed at the 'private' small and basic twin room with shared bathroom. On the positive side: the atmosphere is great and english-speaking staff very friendly and helpfull. Perfect location close to Copacabana and Metro station. Things to improve: hygiene in girls shower (fungus growing) and service at breakfast.

Average rooms, average breakfast, average attitude from the staff. Slow and patchy WIFI. You can stay here, it is reasonable clean, it is cheap and the location is ok. There are several other hostels in the same street - so you should compare their reviews

Staying in Copacabana

Neighborhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
