I have stayed here a few times over the past 6 months (it’s where our corporate agent has a cheap deal). On the plus side: The hotel is definitely well managed and members of staff are always eager to please. The buffet meals are good quality and varied – there is always something good for everyone and the roof terrace... more

I stayed twice at the hotel for almost 2 months. The location of the hotel right on Copabana beach makes it a great stay. The staff is really courteous and they have a good choice of food. The morning buffet is excellent with a wide variety of fruits, cereals, yogurt, egg, sausages and to top it off with a variety... more

Great location, right on the beach. Great breakfasts and good views from the roof. Helpful and friendly staff, although never take the hotel taxi, always ask for a meter taxi, as this is much cheaper and just as safe. The rooms are clean, although a bit dated. more

The location is excellent, directly across the street from Copacabana Beach. It's clean, modern, and convenient to local shopping just around the corner. My chief complaint is that it's a very busy tourist hotel with endless groups arriving and departing almost every day. At times there appeared to be well over a hundred bags and suitcases in the lobby. I... more

Great Location. Shops/restaurants/beaches all within a short walking distance. Copacabana Beach right at your door step. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. All spoke well English. Breakfast buffet was brilliant. Rooms were very clean with a reasonable decent size bathroom. Reccomend to stay on one of the highest floors to eliminate any potential noises from the street especially during carnivale.... more

This hotel was our first stop in Brazil, and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of our room. The breakfasts (including the service) were definitely above average. The roof deck has a great view of Copacabana Beach. We didn't use the beach service at this hotel, but we did at another Windsor, and it was so helpful - we... more

Business trip in January. Late night check in, quick and efficient. First impression of room was that it was fairly small and cramped and view was a bit disappointing, I guess the more you pay, the more you see! In my case I was overlooking the rear of the neighbouring apartment block. Cupboard space ok, safe in room, no iron,... more

I went to Rio for the weekend while I was working in Sao Paulo. Was very pleased with the hotel. Bilingual staff was very helpful with our needs, let us check in early and check out late. Helped us book tours for a reasonable rate. The room I had was small but looked brand new - was very modern with... more

I joined my husband in Rio who was in Brazil with his work. We had two nights at this hotel and it was fantastic. We booked a standard room and asked if we could have a sea view. Unfortunately, this was not possible but we were immediately upgraded to a superior room at the side of the building on the... more

The Excelsior is wonderful vaue for the price. Location is superb facing the beach. This is a convenient, clean, comfortable hotel. The included breakfast is excellent in terms of quality & selection for Americans & Europeans. The rooftop is great. The pool is a bit small but fine. The bar is excellent & the view is phenomenal. Hard to beat... more
