Hotel Angrense, although humble, is great accommodation for a tourist visiting RDJ on a budget. One block off Copacabana, it is in a very handy location. With a laundrette and supermarket also one block away, the amenities are brilliant. Also very handy for flagging taxis, which we were advised was the safety way to travel in the city. The staff... There is nothing special to this hotel, its basic. But its in a great location only a couple of streets from the Copacobana. The rooms are simple but functional. The only complaint is that the air con units in our room seemed a little old and could do with modernising. It was very noisy as well. The breakfast buffet was... More

Hotwire sold me this hotel as a 3 star. I stepped into my room and clearly wasn't in a 3 star hotel. The towels were worn out, the air conditioning hardly worked and was so noisy you couldn't sleep. Toilet facilities were really dated. I immediately made my way to reception and asked the hotel staff the star rating. They... More

This hotel is average and very overpriced for what you get. The rooms are very small and very basic, as is the breakfast (even by South American standards). The only plus is the location, it is only a few blocks to the beach. However, you can get the same (if not better) amenities and proximity to the beach for half... More

The rooms are old and dated and very small. Breakfast wasn't included as we stayed as part of a G Adventures tour. The wifi was terrible - the only signal I could get was in the lobby and it would kick you out every couple of minutes and then you'd have to log in again. The computers in the lobby... More

We stayed here for one nite in Rio, luckily only one night. The room was very basic with a gross small bathroom and a very loud air conditioning system that kept me awake half the night. It's down a small side street but location was closets the beach (few blocks) for the price this place was not good value...

I arrived tired, dirty and in need of a clean bed and shower and I thought I was going to get just that when I stepped into the nice lobby. However, once I got into the room I found a grotty cigarette smelling barracks with ants crawling everywhere. Woke up after a long loud night and found that a guest... More

Staying in Copacabana

Neighborhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
