Based on the reviews I read, and the price I paid, I expected a 4-star hotel and not a 3-star hotel. The hotel is OK, it's clean and it has an OK breakfast, it is adjacent to a great gym where you can work out, but somehow it felt a bit "cheap". I may have been influenced by the fact... More

Stayed here for my first few days in Rio. Did not care for the location too much since it was away from all the big spots. Staff was friendly, they were always there to help with the messed up door. If you are coming to Rio for the Olympics, I would recommend staying since some of the events are being... More

I stayed at this hotel for nine weeks prior to and during the 2014 World Cup. The room was large and clean and suitably comfortable. At times it could be quite noisy with the major road just outside, but many colleagues found by getting a room at the back it helped this situation. I didn't find it too much of... More

Promenade Barra First is a good choice for short trips when your business brings you to Barra da Tijuca – west area of Rio de Janeiro – with nice and clean rooms /bathrooms and friendly staff. The breakfast and Wi-Fi are fair and complementary. Best off all, a reasonable price.

The free breakfast was good and the room was ok. Wifi barely reached my room. To get good wifi I had to go near the hallway. Nothing really close and many of the taxi's couldn't find this hotel. The pool wasn't very clean and the gym was cramped and dirty. Next time in in the area for business, I will... More

I had a conference at Rio Centro, so I stayed in this hotel because of its proximity to the conference center. Half of my stay at the Promenade Barra First was ok, the other half bad. Pros: Breakfast was good. Service was mostly good. Cons: - Poor WiFi connectivity. - Half way into my stay, my noisy and dirty A/C... More

Last July, I stayed on this hotel as I had a weeding in Recreio. It was a pleasant experience. The room was very clean, the staff team was great. I got a great deal through booking.com site; so I recommend checking the hotel price through this site also, as you may find a better deal.

Pros: The hotel itself is honestly the nicest hotel I have EVER stayed at in Brazil. It was incredibly Americanized; possibly not a coincidence given its location on Avenue of the Americas. The hotel is spotless, new and part of an upscale condominium complex featuring gorgeous views of the beach, rainforest and mountains from each room's balcony. There are beautiful... More

Good hotel, a bit remote from everything; but decent service and friendly staff. Nice rooms too, very clean. However, I was disappointed by the fact that I could not get ANY international news channel, not BBC, CNN NBC or you name them. For an international business hotel, that was very disappointing. Get rid of the 55 marginal Brazilian channels......and offer... More

The location wasn't very good. This was very apparent when our taxi driving got lost. I also had very pool wifi signal in my room, which was a huge bummer. The main road was also very noisy at night. That being said, the free breakfast was good and the room was nice enough. The fitness center was decent, but the... More
