We have stayed a couple times in this unique romantic place. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The kitchen staff are sweet and they do a great job. The only down side is the managment. Their price for drinks, breakfast and extras are way too much for what you get. Also, you are nit allowed to use the facilities once... More

Our stay at the Casa Amarelo could have only been better if it had been longer! Such a beautiful and charming home with breathtaking views of the city from the house, gardens, and the pool. Beautifully decorated and appointed rooms with original designs. Our stay was topped off with the excellent staff, who were most helpful, gracious and made us... More

We greatly enjoyed our time at Casa Amarelo. It felt much more like staying in an old home. It's not for everyone (as evidenced by some of the negative reviews), but for us quite charming, quirky and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting up at the pool sipping a Cachça while watching the birds, riding the old elevator up to our room,... More

What a great architecture and interieurs in the lovely district of Santa Teresa. Very close to the centre and Lapa. Great view from the community room. The staff at the Hotel was excellent and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed here for one night over carnaval and were able to walk to and from the sambadrome (and felt safe). We felt it was quite expensive, but understand that everywhere is around carnival! The staff were fantastic, so lovely, friendly and welcoming, it was like going to stay with family!! The building itself is quite unusual as it's an... More

This is a remarkable building. It's one of those old houses during the colonial times that has survived and been renovated back to its loveliness. The interaction of its original features with contemporary interiors is done nicely and subtly that it still comes out quite homely. We had our dinner here which was amazing and drinks are offered here too.... More

Our stay at Casa Amarelo was a highlight during our trip to Brazil. A visual feast for the eyes, high in the hills of bohemian St. Teresa with stunning vistas of Rio, rooms that are enticing making you not want to leave them as they're exquisitely decorated. The staff is very attentive taking care of our every needs. Especially Lucia... More

We loved our stay at Casa Amarelo! It is a beautiful villa in Santa Teresa, tastefully decorated and an unforgettable view over the city. Within walking distance to Lapa. It felt like home away from home with a beautiful private pool area in a tropical garden. The staff is extremely friendly, kind and helpful. The best rooms are upstairs or... More

What a nice place! The building is amazing, the staff is super friendly and helpful, and the room was nice and clean. Breakfast was also very good. Our room was situated in the garden, with banana trees and mango trees and friendly monkeys just outside. It's far from the beach, but it's worth to stay here, Santa Teresa is a... More

First time in Casa Amarelo but it felt like coming back to a place well known before. It´s all about the kindness and very friendly service of the Casa Amarelo and the charme of an old manor house. The owner of the Hotel converted the house in an gentle way into a large opening composition of new and fresh design... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The French designer Robert le Heros has created a place of festivity, both poetic and colourful, thus inventing a seductive "art de vivre". Casa Amarelo is a beautiful home, refined and authentic, built in 1904 on the heights of Santa Teresa, an historic area, where artists' studios border beautiful Brazilian homes and museums. It is a magical place, a mixture of the charm of an ancient building and the modernity of contemporary fixtures and fittings. ... more   less
