This hotel is average. Clean enough. Rooms straight from a fifties detective movie. Beautiful parquet. The showers were very good with plenty of water and realy hot. The safe was in the closet, but it did not have a lock. I rather liked the neighborhood. I did not feel unsafe. The staff were a bit on the surly side of... More

Read a lot of bad reviews here...but I had no other option to stay. I was here for the last week of the World Cup...and yes, a lot of the comments here are true: old rooms and not your luxury hotel. But if you need just a place to rest in Rio, I would reccomend it. Do not expect the... More

We stayed here during the Football World Cup as we could not get in anywhere else. It was clean, the staff where helpfully and the breakfasts above average. Internet was useless at times, and security poor with no safes in the room we used. For those looking for a higher end experience stay away.

I would say it's located in a very bad part of town short of being a slum. Friends and I traveled in july, and what they call a "pool" is more like an over sized bath tub on an unkept rooftop that wasn't even clean during vacation season. Shower stalls are so small you can barely lift your arms to... More

As per the title really, this is an affordable decent hotel in Rio de Janeiro. Located about 10-mins in a taxi from copacabana beach (taxi about a tenner) 10 mins walk from Lapa. Lapa is a bit 'rough and ready', especially in the daytime! Beware walking around the streets of the hotel, you'll definitely encounter shed loads of homeless people... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here for carneval. It is a good buget hotel, and we personally didn't experience anything of the negative reviews also on tripadvisor. Pros: good location, friendly helpful staff, great breakfast, clean rooms with wooden floorboards, flatscreen tv and fridge; on main rd with good bus connection, shops and restaurants close by. Cons: wifi intermittent, small... More

Basically you'll get a bed, a tv, a fridge with a mini bar and a bathroom. This is 'no frills'. On the other hand: you're in Rio so why bother doing something else in your room but sleeping. The hotel serves breakfast at the S/L level of the building, which is very decent. The corridors and the elevator are a... More

Spent six nights there, beginning of 2014. The facilities are old and not well maintained, but the staff is friendly and tries to help you whenever possible. Ask for the locks if you need to use the "safe" in the room. We did see some insects but the streets in front are what they are. The AC in the room... More

Rio's Nice Hotel was a 3 star hotel but there is nothing 3 stars about it. It is in a very unsafe part of town. The rooms were not nice or clean. The safe in the room looked like it had been broken open and was unusable. The staff were very friendly but the sign at registration said no prostitution... More

I work for a travel agency, and we had six clients at this hotel in January 2013. They were not satisfied with the hotel, unfriendly staff and dirty rooms in a dodgy neighboorhood. Rio's "Not Nice" Hotel unfortunately...
