The hotel is situated in a small village about one and a half hours drive from Rio. I stayed in a studio apartment which was not bad, but it has definitely seen better days. Nice chalets and rooms in Itaipava. Very nice place, pleasant green areas, with football, tennis and mingolf courts. Quite central, a good point to visit the commerce of the district (I'd suggest the china/earthenware Salvador), yet very calm, peaceful place. Nice staff. Breakfast is good, considering continental taste, but could improve. I didn't like the pillow.

This hotel is of a marvelous mid-century style design: open, airy, and cheerful. The setting is glorious, on a hillside and looking up at a massive basolith across the valley. A beautifully landscaped garden contains a large, perfectly clean pool that is large enough for swimming exercise.
