We stayed here for two nights on our first visit at Parati. The Pousada is very well run and has some comfortable and stylish areas to relax in (lounge and outdoor bar by the poor). To be honest we felt that that the photos did not do it justice when we arrived. The rooms were clean and certainly adequate and... More

Lovely old pousada, very nicely decorated and very well kept for brazilian standards. Very central located. The rooms are very, very simple and noisy but functioning (nice shower). Still, the rest of the living areas make up for the room. The pool is small and nice. Good breakfast with lots of fresh choices, nicely served.

Mid-January, three of us spent three nights at Porto Imperial which is one of the four or five upscale pousadas in Paraty. The colonial town epitomizes the pousada dilemma of Brazil: boutique hotels run like chain hotels without personal touch. In Paraty, the exception is the pricey Casa da Turquesa which is managed by its lady owner. Located in the... More

....and obliging staff. There always seems to be a good English speaking staff member on duty which is very helpful. Importantly - in summer at least - Porto Imperial has a swimming pool, which is something many hotels and Pousadas in the historical centre do not have. You will appreciate this after a hot Paraty day I can assure you!... More

We loved this hotel! The place was beautiful, the rooms were well appointed and clean, the breakfast was excellent, and the service was very great! We needed many suggestions for activities in the area and the staff was knowledgeable and very helpful!

Positive: Nice pousada very well located in the historical part of Paraty. It has parking, pool and a very good breakfast. The premises are well maintained and our room was very clean. Although showing age. Negative: Very noisy air conditioner. We had a simple room, on the lateral street. Cars passing by, we were Lucky it was not busy season.... More

Beautiful pool, common areas, cocktails, service excellent. Great location for the historical centre. Lots of nice touches, including a watercooler stuffed with fresh fruit to give cold water on tap with delicious flavours, such as mango, mint, pineapple. The staff at reception have loads of information, including maps, booking tours and so on. The architecture is great, feels wonderfully colonial... More

We spent a wonderful 3 days in Paraty, where the traditional architecture of the town centre has been beautifully preserved. Pousado Porto Imperial is perfectly located just behind the church and just a few metres from the river. Built in colonial style with wide floor boards and shuttered windows, the hotel is absolutely charming. The common areas, large lounge, covered... More

Booked this Pousada as it was the highest ranked. Felt like having a Butlins chalet 3ft away from the pool, room didnt feel clean, sky box etc caked in dust, renovation work going on at hotel, so during day time was noisy, meaning stay by pool in the heat of the day was not tranquill. Breakfast ok, rolls appeared stale,... More

I have just spent four days at an international symposium in beautiful Paraty. I originally had booked an excellently reviewed pousada (on Trip Advisor) but as my visit drew nearer I realised it was quite a way out of the historic centre and as a solo traveller who's never been to Brazil before I decided I would prefer to be...
