Don't know how this compares to the other pousadas in the old historic town but it definitely isn't luxury. Basically a b&b not even up to travelodge standard. Only stayed two nights, on arrival taken to our room in the annex part which was tiny and horrible. Paid to upgrade to main building which was better than being out in... More

Dear Mrs and Mr Pistachio4, Part of the charm of staying in Paraty is the colonial flair of the city. All buildings and constructions inside the historical center are heritage protected and have to respect strict arquitectural and cultural planning requirements in order to mantain the historic character of the city. Unfortunately soundproof contructions as in modern buildings are not... More

Fabulous stay at this remarkable pousada (or "place") where they leave very little room for improvement. First, the B&B is very clean; and quiet. There are lush gardens, immaculate rooms, and extremely attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. The attention to every detail was amazing! The breakfast selections are varied and tasty. This is one of the few hotels were the... More

We stayed here 2 nights, the hotel is a colonial house that is refurbished. It is neat with original doors and wood shutters so it has a 1700s feel, but the beds were comfortable, it was clean, had a great bathroom, we slept upstairs in the loft and our kids downstairs on twin beds so it was perfect at night.... My wife and I stayed 2 nights in this lovely old Portugese mansion. It is situated in the heart of old town Paraty and is staffed by very friendly and helpful staff. If you need some laundry done this is the place to have it done. A bagful of clothing (up to 20 items ) for a ridiculously low cost.... More

What a beautiful place! Beware that the rooms in the main building are of a much higher quality than the annex. We originally booked a room in the annex but changed after one night (We found the original room to be quite small and dark and also found a creature in there!) to room a room in the main building... Pousada do Ouro is a charming place located in the heart of the old town within walking distance to the best Paraty has to offer. Very nice old 18th century Portuguese mansion with beautiful garden and nice little swimming pool. Very comfortable and really stylish.

Enjoyed a 5 day stay here. Probably had one of the larger rooms (20) which was comfortable, though with rustic charm rather than all mod cons. It felt like you were living somewhere with a lot of history. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and spoke good English. Breakfast buffet was good. The pool is small but a treat to... More

A three-night stay the weekend prior to Carnaval was both relaxing and rewarding. Although we encountered rain, it did not diminish our enthusiasm for the lovely, comfortable ambiance and the inn's service with a smile. We found everything worth seeing within easy walking distance, especially some of the town's top restaurants. Breakfast was delicious and when we asked reception about... More

The hotel is elegant and exotic with many well established historical features. It's a real home to the stars and the staff certainly made me feel special throughout my stay. Excellent breakfast in the morning and great cocktails in the evening by the pool. The location is perfect to explore the natural of beauty of Paraty. The Mamanguá tropical fjord... More
