Simon and Helena were wonderful hosts! They were accommodating, sweet, and able to give advice on what to do. The breakfast was wonderful and had something for everyone, even my five year old who was having a hard time with food on this trip. My five year old son was able to feed monkeys and fit right in at the... More

Simon and Helena were fantastic hosts who made the guesthouse feel like home for us. They were extremely warm and welcoming and went out of their way for us. We didn't have great weather over the few days we were there but the rooms were cozy and, with the town only a short walk and Simon's excellent recommendations, there was... More

This place is a gem. Quiet location, nice and clean rooms, great breakfast and lovely people. We travelled with two small kids, and found the place to be very child friendly. My son still talks about the breakfasts, where he got to eat cake AND feed monkeys at the same time, his definition of paradise:) For us adults, the best... More

We spent at the Pousada 6 nights. Delicious homemade breakfast with real Brazilian dishes, fruits, breads... The room was exactly what we looked for; enough space, clean, perfect mattress, well maintained and beautiful view from the balcony. Helena & Simon are Muito Boa Gente (Lovely People) always caring about service and giving personalized tips about Paraty (Simon gave the perfect... More

We stayed at the pousada for 2 nights. Everything was really cool: great and quiet location (better with a car), nice and funny tenants, good rooms and good breakfast (definitely the best tapioca we had!!). Well, a very nice address to know in the neighborhood ! Ate mais, Lise & Yann.

We were warmly welcomed by Simon and Helen. Great advice for the best places to go and the best prices in Paraty. Highly recommend the happy hour at the microbrewery on Saturdays and the Escuna tours organised by Simon. Great breakfast! Helen was happy to share some her recipes with us. A fun and relaxed place at a fair price.... More

We only stayed in this wonderful B&B for 2 nights but really wished we could have stayed longer. Simon was an amazing host, always happy to have a chat with you and full of information about pretty much everything. They served the best breakfast we had on our travels around South America- a selection of freshly baked cakes and bread,... More

Wow, what a place. Perfectly located at the quiet end of the beach stretching away from Paraty old centre. Loved it, loved the people, and loved the wild baby monkeys that wanted to share my breakfast too. Perfect if you want the tranquil side of Paraty. Chris

We had a family reunion in Paraty and rented this house the end of April for 11 nights. The house was a nice and quite place to meet each other: a lot of space and veranda's and a refreshing little pool. More or less every other day two girls would come to clean the house and help with the laundry... More

Your trip to Brazil is not complete without a stay at Praia Serena. I would advise this Pousada to everyone, the hard-core B&B fans, but also the people that usually book big chain hotels. I stayed about 7 days and the location was absolutely perfect, it is walking distance from Jabaquara beach & the old colonial historical center of Paraty.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Owned and run by English Simon and his Brazilian wife, we are super super clean - you could eat off the floor but I would not suggest it. We arrange everything - boat trips, jeep tours and our breakfasts are legendary. Private rooms en-suite, sea and island views, air con, fridge, hammocks, pool, garden. 10 years in Paraty, safe and quiet on the beach.we have a Canadian canoe for guests to use , we are 1 mile from the center of the old town , some people walk it in 15 minutes some people take an hour or two if they stop for a drink along the way its up to you , there are buses that go to town but as for timetables its still Brasil so do not expect any , it is quiet here we are visited by birds and monkeys hope you will like it here thanksSimon ... more   less
