We'd originally planned on staying in Bayfield, but we didn't make reservations and Bayfleld was pretty much booked. So we headed back to Ashland and checked out the Bayview Motel. It's definitely a throwback to the 1950s that's been updated with a microwave, refrigerator and wifi. But the rooms are adorned with aged knotty pine paneling. The room we had... More

We chose Bayview as our homebase for a trip to the area because we secured the kitchenette room. The kitchen was completely fitted, the motel was very clean inside and out, and the couple running it were friendly and helpful. It is located on the far side of town from the route to Bayfield, but was not inconvenient.

We found this little gem while on a motorcycle journey. The owners were pleasant and helpful, the room was very clean and comfortable with the amenities we need and none of the overpriced flash of chain motels. We, my wife and I, love it here and make it a point to stay here on our yearly vacation. Old fashioned charm,... More

Very expensive and the gossipy worker lady seemed annoyed the whole time we were in office, room dark and dank and damp and dreary. Really way too expensive. We spent rest of the trip at themotel 8 on the other side of town. Weird people here.

We stayed here on the way to--and from--the U.P. Here’s what I’ll say: If you can only be comfortable in a big hotel with a pool, jacuzzi and continental breakfast, this isn’t the place for you. If you’re seeking a rustic and quiet place to crash, you’ll probably like Bayview Motel. We certainly did.

The room (we got the same... More

I believe this is the third time I've stayed at this hotel. I stayed in unit 8 which is the closest to the Lake and farthest from the road. I've always found the rooms to be clean and comfortable. This room has a single double bed, coffee maker, fridge and microwave. Also a table in the corner. The rooms are... More

We travel with our 2 tiny doggies; one weighs 5# and the other is 12#. We've stayed at this motel twice, giving them the 2nd chance we do every business we patronize. The owners put us in what they call the Dog Friendly room; which is perfectly understandable, since they only have 8 rooms. The room was not clean, very... More

This summer, our guests have left with smiles on their faces, many knowing that this little old motel still has a place in simple travel plans. Most people enjoy the oldness and their tastes do not run to fast food or large chains, and they may even not want a TV. You commented "that the room was not clean, it... More

Some people might call this motel old fashioned, I'd call it retro nostalgic. Brought back wonderful memories of childhood family road trips! Old fashioned yes, but in a very good way. Everything works, is very well maintained and sparkling clean. Haven't found this level of cleanliness, homey comfort and personalized customer service in many (if any) of the chains. I... More

First thing you notice is a "very old fashion" portable floor style heater. The owner controls the heat for each room but you do have the luxury of a old fashion plug in heater!!! The bathroom left much to be desired, I felt like I was showering in a campground style bathroom. The TV's are old school, although the owner... More

Hello. I'm sorry I was not there when our manager made the judgment that someone had smoked in the room.I do not know the sides of the story, But I can tell you the following: 1) We promise our guests that our rooms are clean and smoke free. If, as determined in this case, the room was left smelling of... More

We recently traveled to Bayfield Wisconsin to see the fall foliage and the beautiful scenery..We stayed in a motel about 20 miles away..This little motel was more that we could have hoped for. Friendly people. So very clean..and quaint. The walls are pine and the room included a microwave, fridge, coffee maker and hair dryer..You can sit outside and look... More
