Hotel was beautiful outside, but its interiors were very much outdated. Rooms were quite spacious and clean. The breakfast (complimentary) wasn't too special. Nice English pub with friendly staff and beautiful terasse. Very near of downtown. more

We stayed here because the rooms in Bayfield were all booked, and had a lovely experience. This is an old hotel, and all the rooms are a little bit different. Our room was actually a one bedroom apartment with fourteen foot ceilings. It was nice to have the extra space for a night and hang out in the living room... more

Great setting, with wonderful views from the restaurant and deck. The public areas are very nice, but the rooms are a lot like what you would find in a budget motel-the bed linens have seen better days, tiny bathroom, no closet-just a wall rack to hand your clothes up, chintzy bath amenities. There are none of the other "extras" which... more

We have been staying at this hotel since it opened in the late 1980's. We stopped staying there about ten years ago because it became neglected and run down. The new owners have improved things considerably. The rooms are average size but sparsely furnished. Ours had two double beds with one small nightstand between them. There was also a small... more

Our group (a large musical group) checked in at the Chequamegon Hotel with no prior reservation because the motel we originally booked was unacceptable. The staff was extremely helpful at getting us checked in, and even with no discounts, the price we paid was the same as the budget motel we had abandoned. I didn't have a chance to try... more

Stayed just one night for business. I agree with the other reviews. The location & views from this hotel are just fabulous, but the rooms themselves are adequate, but nothing special. The common areas are beautifully decorated with antiques. I stayed in a king room facing the lake. GREAT view, especially of the sunset. The location is right near downtown... more

The former owner is gone (AT LAST). Restored to its glory days. No more pets or smoking (even in the lounge). You will love staying here once again. Food is very good. Just give it a try-you'll love it!. more

This hotel was rebuilt after the original burned down. Going in the off season provided a great value. While our room was not plush, it was quite clean and comfortable. Don't expect high end toiletries or Egytian cotton towels, Our room overlooked the lake and being at the end of the hall, provided both side and front windows. Beds were... more

After reading some of the negative reviews about this hotel we were almost reluctant to stay here but decided to give it a try and were very happy we did. We had stayed here about 10 years ago and had only positive feedback then. Also, keep in mind that there are not a lot of choices in the Ashland area... more

The Chequamegon Hotel is situated in a lovely spot in Ashland next to the city marina. The views from the common areas, bar, boardwalk, deck, or lakeside rooms are fantastic. The lobby is historically furnished. While the guest rooms have been updated, they are just average. I appreciated the updates to the bathroom and furnishings. However, I don't feel they... more
