Visiting Ouro Preto is such a magical experience, but staying just in front of one of the Brazilian baroque master pieces is something bigger... a boutique hotel with a very warm service, almost like a bed and breakfast with a more luxurious ending.

Having seen reviews saying that rooms on the street were very noisy (which I can well understand) we chose one on the back - in fact on a small light-well. This had no curtains just shutters, and since there was no air conditioning we had to keep the shutters and windows open all night, so the dawn light woke us... More

Location is very good. We had a room on the inside/back. Very nice decoration and a wooden stair down to double bed and bathroom. The bathroom was small with small ventilation hole and bad smell. Shower was positioned about 1.75 high so my bigger partner didn't need a showercap to keep his hair dry. Breakfast could be better for this... More

I stayed in Mondego three times over the past 8 years. Despite all the qualities, the hotel has not received adequate maintenance and the good location turned to be more of curse as the central area got more crowded, more buses, earlier start. I will look some where else when in lovely Ouro Preto.

We stayed here for 5 nights while visiting Ouro Preto and the surrounding area. It has a wonderful old-world feel, perfectly fitting the historical ambience of Ouro Preto, with heavy period-pieces of furniture and genuinely nice artwork all over the place. Our rooms were attic rooms under the eaves, but very comfortable and clean. The location is right in front... More

Several reviews of this place talk about small, windowless rooms. Perhaps I was lucky, but when I went to book all the rooms were full. They offered me a cottage that they own, one of two which are joined to form a small historic little house. This was located down a (very steep!) hill. Breakfast was provided in the Pousada... More

Great location just off main square and next to market. Wonderful old building with heaps of timber and furniture to match, look out for the grandfather clocks. Garage opposite was handy for the motorcycle and staff are very friendly. There is no bar but you can be served from behind the scenes on the terrace or lounge. Would stay again.

This nice hotel is located in the heart of Ouro Preto and has a parking lot (which is extremely convenient). Its central location makes easy to visit all major attractions in the city, Breakfast is just fair, service is very good and the decor (rooms and lobby) is very beautiful. On the other hand, we got a room with a... More

I splurged at the end of my trip and booked P.d. Mondego for 4 nites (minimum rental during Semana Santa). Located directly on one of O.P's main squares, this hotel is lovely. I got a single room facing to the back of the house. Not nearly as noisy as other reviews suggest. Actually surprisingly quiet! And the slanty ceiling attic... More

We knew what to expect, still decide to stay, and we don't regret having stayed. But still, not really worth more than a three. Building is very nice, piece of history. Breakfast is OK but lot exceptional, basically like most better Brazilian breakfasts. Service is good. We just got a regular room, on the upper floor, over the reception area.... More
