The staff gave excellent service and this was by far the best hotel in the area. Salvador is reflected in the atmosphere of the hotel and its gracious staff and atmosphere. The breakfast is sumptuous and having dinner there is a delight. Hearts of palm spaghetti is a definite go. Do try it.

This hotel was renovated with lots of annotation to detail. You feel like back in history when the Portuguese founded Salvador as the capital of Brazil. The whole hotel is in colonial style, all rooms are named after places that the Portuguese colonised in the past. We stayed in room Goa with a view to the square in front of... More

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. There were some mixed reviews so I was a bit apprehensive. This place is great! Staff is very friendly, the service is great, the rooms are clean and well done, breakfast is AMAZING (don't miss it!), wi-fi worked great, and the location is exceptional. If you are expecting a pool area,... More

First of all, the staff at the Villa Bahia are wonderful. The accommodations are superb. The food at the restaurant is great (and the breakfast is enough food to feed an army). Even the decor is fabulous. The location is spectacular - right across from St. Francis of Assisi church. For me - a hotel of this cache should, when... More

The hotel is great. The envirement and the decorarions are amazing. The food is great, since breakfast until dinner. Employees are helpful and friendly. Optimal service. The locations for the hotel is the best, lot of locations to visit and bus station at 5min footer. It was a great vacations, will return.

Staying at the hotel as part of a tour of brazil. It was classified as a first class hotel by the tour organiser. Issues at the hotel: a/c not working so sweated through most of the first night. Raised the issue through bleary eyes at 7am and was offered an inferior room and left to feel that i was a... More

It's a bit edgy around here, not good at night in the side roads , vagrants sleeping nearby , plenty of dogs as well. Equally the police station is next door and lots of police visible. However it is a pleasant hotel, decent front desk staff especially theBelgian girl, and all the staff try hard but don't always get it... More

Staff friendly enough buy not trained. Had to chase them for coffee, bread etc at breakfast each of three days of our stay - they always forgot something. Breakfast nothing special. There is no swimming pool, a small plunge pool at best. Didn't eat here apart from breakfast as many local good restaurants with more atmosphere and cheaper. Great position,... More

This is a first class hotel with charming staff and first rate service. It is atmospheric, helpful and immaculately clean. Breakfast was excellent and served in charming surroundings in the back garden of the hotel. We were given a welcome drink and the welcome in the hotel when we arrived was faultless. Our room was large and well appointed. I... More

The rooms may be charming, but staff attitude second rate. It may be 'in the heart of the historic centre' but its pool is a fragment of someone's imagination, and nobody takes responsibility when things go wrong with service - e.g. no coffee available after 20 minutes waiting. Not cheap either.
