This claims to be 4* but it wouldn't merit a 2* in the US. Perfectly clean, but extremely dated with ancient sparse furnishings, cracked tiles, and balcony doors that don't lock. The air conditioner, ironically branded Silencio, is too noisy to sleep at night on its lowest setting - and it's only in the bedroom anyway, it has no effect in the lounge area. The swimming pool is approximately 2 meters square.

The hotel is two backstreets from the Barra seafront, but after dark these streets feel incredibly uncomfortable to walk through. You can check reviews of nearby properties for woeful tales on far busier and more well-lit streets.

I was due to stay ten days but checked out after two and moved to a better hotel nearby. more
