We stayed here in the last week of May (before the world cup rush). We were a family of three with a 1.5 year toddler. I would recommend the hotel as a safe, clean and comfortable place to stay with very friendly and knowledgeable staff; however, I wouldn't recommend it if you have trouble with stairs or are travelling with... We went to Salvador for the FIFA World Cup and even though the area the hotel is at isn't fancy or developed, it was still very pretty in a historical sense. The hotel itself doesn't seem like much from outside but inside is pretty nice for the price you pay. The exceptional thing however is the staff. Everyone is willing... More

Although for some reason this have high trip advisor rate the location is bad there is nothing around although the nice sea view they don't have elevator and all rooms are really high floors, breakfast is poor and A/C did not really worked. Bad neighbor and cannot go anywhere without an escort or cab after dark, must mentioned that the... More

A lovely small boutique hotel in the old city of Salvador, close to all the tourist attractions.Rooms are clean but avoid those overlooking the street at the front unless you want to participate in a midnight carnival. Breakfast is served on the terrace with perfect views over the waterfront and the bay. Excellent service.

We had a short time to stay in Salvador and wanted to stay in the Pelourinho. Very nice small hotel. Our room was on the last floor, nice volume and confortable. Top star for the hot shower: it was a real boiler not the ordinary electrical shower that you can get more often than not in Brazil. Downside: the bathroom... More

Nestled just 5 minutes from the Pelorhino section of Salvador. It is beautiful in it's simple, artsy charm - beautiful art throughout. The staff, especially, Alvaro at the front desk and atelier Flavia go out of their way to make your stay exceptional. Great breakfast every morning! We would definitely stay here again.

After paying for the room through an online booking service, I was confused about whether I would have a water view, and two beds for me and my friend. The staff and owner at Solar do Carmo made sure we had both, and provided us with the best room in the house, on the top floor (Room 501). Like most... More

This is the first time I've ever actually written a review - despite using Trip Advisor all the time to choose hotels. I decided to make an exception on this occasion, as we had such a wonderful stay at Solar do Carmo. It's 5 minutes walk from the centre of the historic town and is a little haven! Every morning... This family run hotel exceeded our expectations. We loved staying in this historic section of Salvador.Rooms were spacious and clean.Well worth the extra cost to have a balcony and sea view.Exceptional breakfast. The hotel is loving decorated with art.The owners were extremely helpful and were always willing to recommend a museum to visit and would often draw a map.Highly recommend .

We chose to stay in the Solar do Carmo because we wanted a different experience having stayed in some ordinary tower block type hotels. We weren't disappointed. It is located in a street of partly renovated colonial houses and even though the area appears a little run down you get a great surprise when you enter the main lobby. It... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
... more   less
