The view of the ocean is tremendous the staff very helpful and friendly. But a 5 star hotel it is not. It might have been a five star in the 1970s but not much has been refurbished since then it seems. The sink and bathtub drained very slowly, the carpet was stained and the air conditioning unit was extremely noisy.... more

Quick Low Down. The only negative aspects. You will have to get a taxi to the centre and too the nice beaches which take about 10/15 minutes, it’s too far to walk, but it only cost about £6. The Pestana may have been established with some kind of dream of being a top notch business hotel with superb views of the Atlantic Ocean. Very pretty hotel built right on the ocean. Nice clean contemporary room, friendly staff, and pretty grounds. A friend and I started our 16 day adventure here and had a great time. I stayed here for 2 nights and wished I could stay longer. I booked a superior room but upon checking in, we were allocated a room at their new wing which was completed only 8 mths ago. The hotel is conveniently located in the Rio Vermelho´s beach and it makes sense to stay there if you wanna a peacefull place to stay a little far from the historical center but more secure The rooms are very comfortable - the bed is amazing - and convenient with enough space to play with children or work in the room... more

great hotel. the hotel has beautiful rooms, and a humongous pool. the breakfast (included in the hotel rate) was delicious! the only negative, is that it is a rather large hotel and the service is not as personal as some people would like. it is a beautiful hotel nevertheless. there is public transportation within walking distance. more

My husband and I, stayed here as part of a three centre holiday. The hotel was very nice, with a contemporary decor. It has a cosy pool area, with a bar, overlooking the sea.
