We chose this hostel attracted to its Barra location and it's bright appearance. It did not disappoint... Alex greeted us with fresh juice and made us feel right at home. The rooms are beautiful , decorated by the artist in residence who runs programs for disadvantaged youth here. The place is beautiful and so are the staff who seem like... More

Saw tripadvisor and the cute and fancy color house attracted me a lot, the real one was same as the review! Alex was very friendly and his wife who teaches Samba lesson class for free was really fun and great ! Breakfast was tasty and the location heading to beach was nice as well, loved to be there!

I can personally recommend this place. The rooms are clean, fair for the price. Its really close to a bus stop where you can catch a direct bus to or from the airport, there is a grocery store at the end of the street and the beach is really close too. But the biggest benefit is in the staff. They... More

A wonderful hostel in the beach area Barra in Salvador. Lovely chilled out welcoming place that has a spacious ensuite room. Breakfast is wonderful - fresh fruit, juice, toast, frittata and coffee. Very friendly and helpful staff. I am looking forward to my return visit.

First of all, its a nice and colorful place to stay at with good breakfast and good people. Strangely, guests have to sign a contract before they check in and that should be made public and know to people when they are booking. The beds are average and not super comfortable and the linens are of poor quality. Strangely also,... More

What's not good, We got free cocktails, free Samba (Axe) lessons, Free Capoeria shows, Free Jazz performances, daytrips to far away beaches. The place is amazingly colourful, and the breakfast is super tasty, and cooked by a dancing queen singing away in the kitchen.

We booked a room in Open House Barra after reading the reviews here on Tripadvisor. The House was a little bit difficult to find - we arrived in Barra by bus and then walked to the House. We actually walked past it at first - the sign is really small. Maybe it´s useful for security reasons - but just take... More

We stayed in Open house last summer (august 2012), as soon as we walked through the door it felt like entering in a different world, eveything is art, colours, you can feel peace and joy just looking around. Alex and Jackie have been wonderfuo hosts giving us precious advices on the city and outside; as they are into music, dance... More

The owner welcomed us with some drinks as we arrived tired from the airport. He was very friendly and the place was located in a safe neighborhood in Salvador (Barra). He really made us feel welcome. Good wi-fi, and he also helped us arrange a night to watch some Catumble, which was an interesting cultural experience.
