Honestly I am not a big fan of staying in hostels during my travel, but this hostel is different. It's quiet, comfortable and you can feel like at home here. The staff is helpful and Anna (the owner) is a great source of information about the surroundings. What's more, there is a very nice breakfast served every morning! I think... More

Hostel Pousada Pais Tropical is the best places in Salvador for foreign people looking to experience best features of the city without risking health, big expenses and confusion. The place is run by a brazilian/polish couple and a group of polite locals. They work hard to give you care and advices. You may deal with a lot of crazy stuff... More

We stayd two nights in this hostel and two nights in açai hostel, because the açai hostel was full during the weekend. Room and the beds were really old and small. There were no space to put our things. For us the biggest thing was the bathroom. They only had one bathroom in everyfloor. So we always needed to wait... More

We stayed there a few nights and really felt like home. The pousada is run by Polish (Anna) and Brazilian (Felipe) couple... little Marcel running around the floor, cat with blue eyes and turtle accompanying at breakfast :) The location is great, just in the center of Pelourinho, Salvador's old city. We could watch some show with perfect view from... More

This is a really great place to stay! The Pelourinho is a a lively area, with lots to do and easy access to a lot of the rest of the city! I found all of the staff really friendly and accommodating! They were all super chatty and interested in helping me find things to do to enjoy my stay. As... More

Stayed here during the World Cup. As a group we found the reviews (and photos) on here to be a bit misleading. This is not a horrendous place to stay but it is limited. The two rooms we occupied were both tired. The beds were acceptable but neither bathroom was as good as we expected them to be. One of... More

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in late June. Pros: - Location Good location in the old town which can be easily explored by foot. We were catching a world cup match and the stadium could be reached by foot as well. So this is very convenient! - Staff The staff are nice and friendly. They seem... More

Let's just call the HPPT the HPT,,,that is the Hostel Pais Tropical. The hostel, dorm beds and some private rooms, is the union of two operations that had a common wall. Manager Felipe is working hard to upgrade the entire establishment...i.e. doors that allow better ventilation, A/C, paint where needed, etc. Yes, the shower door may leak and you might... More

The hostel is ideally located next to the museu da cidade & it is very secure but that is about as good as it gets. Our first room flooded, a problem they knew about but still put us in there. They did give us a different room though. The water pressure is non existent & so was any hot water.... More

Stayed here during Carnival 2014. The staff were EXCELLENT and so helpful - they took us out with them after their shifts and showed us the real Carnival. Great location - bit noisy during the day but easy enough to sleep at night. Had a great dorm room with a big double bed. Free wifi accessible in the main area... More
