This was my first trip to Salvador, Brazil. I rented a car in Salvador Airport. Airport is around 15 miles from the hotel (Pelourihno is located in the historic center of Salvador). You have to decide if you want to stay in front of the beach, but, if you want an environment close to home Bahiacafe hotel should be your... more

I really like this hotel, the location is really good, not everybody wants to stay in Pelourinho but I think it is wothwile. I consider this area much more authentic than other areas in Salvador where there are only hotels and nothing more to see around. The decoration of the hotel is very nice, full of local crafts, the rooms... more

The owner and the reception lady weren't that friendly as other reviewers have described, or approachable based on our one-week encounter! Those girls worked in the cafe were even less so! When we have been hassled on the street in the evening on our way to the bus-terminal carrying our rucksacks, the owner simply just stood by and watched expressionlessly...... more

The owner and staff at this hotel are wonderful ! The staff spoke a little english, but with my broken portuguese we made it work. They were so gracious, patient, and friendly and quite frankly made my trip to Salvador great. The hotel lobby is an internet cafe, a restaurant, and has a little bar with a great people watching view... more

We have just come back from Salvador and had a lovely stay with Jean Michel and his crew. The room as lovely and confortable, amazing breakfast and the hosts were always friendly and extremely helpful. As per other reviews the only down side was the noise coming from the square but nothing that closing the window didn't resolve. Ask for... more

Bahiacafe is a small hotel located at the Praça da Sé right at Pelourinho (the historic centre of Salvador), very close to Elevador Lacerda and all the amazing churches, restaurants and museums. The owners are very helpful and will give you good indications on where to go, which transport to use and in booking your next stop. Michel is originally... more

I walked in the bar downstairs and, from the first minute it felt like home. Relaxing after a long trip to Salvador we grabbed something to eat and just couldn't seem to leave. The nice (european) owner,Michel showed us around and we decided to stay. Clean, new rooms, decorated with taste, nice bathrooms. We enjoyed breakfast, fresh juices, espresso coffee of... more
