I spent a night with my wife and two sons (26 & 20), before starting a jungle tour the following morning with Gero's Tours whose main office is a few meters from the hotel. The other advantage of staying at the Dez de Julho is that you are only a block from the Manaus Theater that is one of the... More

Well, the opera isn't far and the price is low. I was just back from a jungle trip and didn’t expect to much standard for one short night... Otherwise you will be disappointed. The breakfast I took outside, it's better for good mood.

The hotel is one of many in brazil that rent room by the hour. However, it is perfectly acceptable for a night sleep. It is very basic, without any frills but has everything traveler needs for a night's sleep - a reasonably good bed, hot shower. It is in the excellent location right downtown, near Theatro Amazonas. It was quite... More

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. We slept in the basement, which they call a room. Also the very disappointed breakfast was served in the basement. The good part is that they serve eggs for breakfast (at least if you wake up before 8, otherwise you will find an empty bowl.) The highlight of our stay here, was... More

Very close to the main square and right next to the office of Gero Tours, who do highly recommended Amazon tours. The shower was hot, the bed nice and firm, and breakfast was fairly good exept for the awful juice and strange salty bread. Nice fruit though. The room itself was very basic, but clean. When I checked in I... More

The Good: Location -- within walking distance from many restaurants and bars and Teatro Price -- relatively inexpensive Staff -- very friendly and spoke English For Backpackers -- a tour agency was located in the lobby and this was a convenient spot to get picked up at The Not as Good: It's the kind of hotel that I wouldn't walk... Not a luxury hotel, but reasonably priced for what it was. Location is perfect in a city that does have some unsafe areas. Note that the front desk staff generally don't speak any English or Spanish. We had one of the more expensive rooms, I think it has more space and hot water, compared to the more economical rooms for... More

We organized all of our travel through a guide, who booked us at this place for a night before we ventured into the Amazon. The location was ideal- walking distance for everything you want to see in Manaus, calm and near to a plaza with live music and some ice cream parlors. It is clean, serves its purpose, and the... If you are looking for a bed and some info on Amazon tours, this is the best option. It is located close to the attractions in Manaus and it is in the same building as most Amazon tour companies. This hotel provides airport transfer and they are really helpfull! If you want luxury, this is not your place!

We stayed here for five nights during a trip to Manaus for the World Cup. After searching one dumpy hostel after another that didn't have any vacancies, we were shocked to get a clean, well-appointed room, right off the main plaza, where all the action was. Air conditioner worked, as well as TV and fridge. Room was completely cleaned daily... More
