I've stayed in worse - actually the Catussaba in Salvador was a true dive. This was liveable. The room was clean, but dated. Other guests made the comment that the rooms at the Tropical resort next door were nicer, and the lobby of the other hotel was clearly nicer, but I didn't see the rooms. Let's start here, I have been traveling for over 20 years and I am tough to impress. Every hotel looks the same after a while. But not the Tropical Manaus Business........From the clean rooms, to the lovely vista from balcony overlooking the Rio Negro, to the wonderful service from everyone on staff.
